    Faithless cannot be recommended enough... i'm a big fan and although I thought their last album was average, Live it's a different story... they are all about the live experience, seen them a few times and every time was fantastic !

    Other bands that surprised me at how good they were live;
    Alanis Morissette - if you are a fan definately worth seeing 3000 people sounded like 10000 singing along.
    Aerosmith - after over 30 years they are polished to absolute perfection.
    Massive Attack - never seen so many different band members and the way they adapted their primarily electronic sound to a live band was great.

    But often it's as much about the venue (and weather) as to how good a gig is, Foo Fighters last year at Lancashire Cricket Club were average - but not the Foo's fault - then a few weeks ago at the MEN they were amazing.

    Tool is probably the best band I've seen live, others worth a mention are Opeth, Dream Theater and Audioslave.

    Found this video of a Tool gig where Maynard (lead singer) owns some fan who jumped on the stage. Love it how he puts him in a choke hold and keeps singing

    I'm yet to have the pleasure of seeing Tool live. I've seen Maynard perform a couple of times with A Perfect Circle and they were fantastic gigs.

    Opeth are also very good live, I've seen them several times not and I was at both of the UK gigs that were recorded for DVD

    Damn you! I've seen Opeth 3 times but I don't live in London so wasn't at any of the recorded shows

    As for Tool, they're really good as are APC....
