Rambo! not at our cinema's say Odeon

Odeon snub hurts Rambo box office

The chain has attributed its decision to undisclosed "commercial reasons".

Sylvester Stallone's action movie took £1.2m in its first weekend - £266,000 less than number one film Jumper.

Jack Black comedy Be Kind Rewind also took more money - although its second place in this week's chart is dependent on takings from two days of previews.

The Odeon ban "obviously affected it massively," said Diana Lodderhose of industry journal Screen International, which compiles the figures.

Why would they only threat odeon cinemas and not the others?

According to the 'times' it maybe because of broken down negotiations between sony and odeon.

I rather enjoyed the original film - the later 2 where different completely.

Not sure if i'd see the new one or not.

Re: Rambo! not at our cinema's say Odeon

I thought the new one was the best of the lot, even better than #1

Shame they're not showing it, more money for other cinemas i suppose though, all it's gonna do is force people to go elseware.

Re: Rambo! not at our cinema's say Odeon

I believe it's because it's VERY violent. And Odeon are saying by not showing Rambo means they can show other family films!??!

It's an 18 for a reason. Yes it's violent but hasn't Sweeny Todd got some gross out throat cutting. Sweeny is a mudering loon yet Rambo is killing evil, murdering Burmese army loons.

Odeon are being facists!!! Rambo is a great film, chock full of action. It's just a shame that you don't get to see too much Rambo, seeing as the Mercs he has with him have to get some of the action too.
