    Foo Fighters at Wembley

Saw them on Saturday - Awesome Gig - anyone else go ?

The Stage - I heard before the gig about the "round stage" they were going to use, it wasn't as round and in the middle as everyone had made out, it was still down at one end with a huge patform coming out nearly the full length of the pitch. We thought this would be somewhere the band would walk up and down but only Dave came down once, in hindsight I think it was probably more about making the crowd more manageable.

The "screen" they use was strange, made up of strips and moved up and down, gave a good image when being used.

They opened with The Pretender and then blasted away for 2 and a half hours through old tracks right up to the latest album stuff, dropping into an acoustic set in the about 2/3 way through when the stage revolved around a 1/4 turn per track so that all the people on the sides and back got at least one track sung to them.

    They played a long set considering how energetic their music is;
    'The Pretender'
    'Times Like These'
    'No Way Back'
'Cheer Up Boys, Your Make Up Is Running'
    'Learn To Fly'
    'This Is A Call'
    'Long Road To Ruin'
    'Breakout'
    'Stacked Actors'
    'Skin And Bones'
    'Big Me'
    'Marigold'
    'My Hero'
    'Cold Day In The Sun'
    'Let It Die'
    'Everlong'
    'Monkey Wrench'
    'All My Life'
    =========
    'Rock And Roll'
    'Ramble On'
    'Best Of You'

...but then again they always do. You could tell they were enjoying it too, Dave said the same thing I remember him saying a few years ago at Old Trafford Cricket Club "How did a band like this get to be playing a venue this size ?"

For the encore they brought on Led Zepplin, well Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones and played two Led Zepplin tracks ("Rock and Roll" and "Ramble On"). Then they finished with Best of You, with a tearful Dave proclaiming "This is the best f**king day of my whole entire life"

Some tracks really stood out to me, My Hero was brilliant, Skin and Bones was superb, and of Course the finale of Best of You.

Then came the exit, never seen such a well organised exit from a stadium in my life, 87,000 people leaving at about 22:40 and by midnight not only had everyone gone, the railings had been removed and the streets had been swept, you'd never know it had happened.

Definately one of my top 5 gigs

Someone at work was selling 2 tickets last minute. I was so tempted to go but decided not to because of the size of the venue. Knowing me though, I'll never get to see them :'(

Your pics make it looking amazing though

    Re: Foo Fighters at Wembley

    Linked over from another thread.

I tried to get tickets from the moment it was announced right up until last week. I guess my pigheadedness at not wanting to pay over face value stopped me.

Heard a few tracks on R1 last night and it sounded amazing - nice photos too

    Re: Foo Fighters at Wembley

I'm a bit Foo Fighters obsessive. I've seen them four times now. I didn't go to Wembley - I went to Manchester instead. VERY nice pics though and that does look like an amazing show. I see they didn't play Generator - they did in Manchester and I love it live.
