ahh! that not bad, i don't mind a long running time if the film is good.

I thought it was very good, but not deserving of #1 film of all time. I think I actually preferred the first one.
I think it was a suspension of disbelief thing with me... the joker - crazy clever nutjob that he was - had just a few too many abilities for me to swallow. Likewise with that phone sonar thing. I almost started to fear that if this series continues, it's going to turn into a "convenient gadget saves the day" type of film, which will annoy me.
As someone said above - almost like a very good Bond film.
I've been looking forward to this film since it was hinted at the end of Batman Begins. I was very wary of all the hype surrounding it though, so I went in with mixed feelings. I have to say I think it started very slow, and I find it particularly appropriate that the film is called 'The Dark Knight' rather than 'Batman whatever' because in truth, I don't think there was actually a lot of focus on Batman himself. Some of the gadgets seemed like they were thrown in for gadgets sake, but despite all that I thoroughly enjoyed it and think it certainly warrants multiple viewings. I absolutely loved the portrayal of the Joker - not just the way Heath Ledger played him, but the way in which he was written, the choices he forced people to make, and just the dark nature of him - it was perfect. Certainly one of the best cinematic villains that I've come across in a while, and the film did not disappoint at all, just built on the promise of the previous film (Batman Begins).
Best film of all time though? I've actually heard a few people express that thought, but I don't think I'd agree. It's certainly the best film I've seen this year by a long stretch though, and as with Batman Begins, it's certainly up there in my top ten.
I was just lurking on the IMDB forums and found something interesting for once.
Obviously there is a lot of "Will the Joker come back?" threads goings on and "Depp could do it.." nonsense, but one stuck out with an actor who I think could actually pull it off.
The one and only Jack Bau... Kiefer Sutherland. I hadn't thought about it myself but he might actually make a good joker. A sort of older.. even further broken Joker (so he wouldn't necessarily be the same anyway). I like it, it would be a good test of him since he hasn't seemed to have any new challenges for some time :)
A combination of Dark City, Lost boys, and 24, mix it all into a big pot of Crazy and you might just get a joker :D
I do like kiefer sutherland but at least in this film series I would prefer them to Retire the joker as a character at least for the next film or 2.
Certainly agree with that, although from comments made by nolan I think he was very much intended to be a big part of it, as he always was a huge part of the batmans life.
Aye you can see from the end of the film that The expectation was for him to figure largely.
The problem for me getting passed the part of seieng someone else play the part anyway would be that if it was kiefer sutherland the character would be older which would mean the rest of the characters would need to be older.
AS I have made known throughout this I dont know a lot about the batman comic book bad guys but I like the idea of the riddler as the next bad guy even though the Jim carey one was bad but from what I have read he`s supposed to be a hyper intelligent criminal so could be interesting to see Batman being challenged that way
That character does have a lot of movie potential I think. If they can find someone who would go to the apparent extremes that Ledger did to prepare it could be an awesome role :)
rumour has it, that jonney depp is gunna play the riddler in teh 3rd movie
I like johnny depp as an actor but as mike said hes not right for a batman film.
I`d like to see someone like Ed norton in it but then I`m a big fan of norton dont know if he`d be right for the riddler though
I think JD would be excellent as the riddler to be honest. He is a good actor in my opinion. However i cannot see Ledger beign easily replaced and as such i dont see the joker as coming back into it for a while.
LoL! I read JD as in the character from Scrubs (forgot the actors name). I think he could do it quite well, just because of his Scrubs background.
It annoys me that there are already rumours of a 3rd film when I thought Dark Knight finished it off quite nicely. Please Hollywood, don't turn it into a cash cow...
