    The Dark Knight

This film has overtaken Shawshank and the Godfather in IMDBs Top 250. Albeit only has a fraction of the votes (~24000 for 330000) but it's sitting at 9.7 (9.5 for regular voters only).

Heath Ledger has been tipped for an Oscar posthumous by multiple people.
Do you think he'll get it?

Is anyone else excited? I know I am!

Heath Ledger > Jack Nicholson for the Joker, hands down!

    Re: The Dark Knight

I haven't seen it yet but... Wow! I didn't think anything ever would take Godfather of the top spot!

I doubt it will be number 1 for long though! After a couple of hundred thousand votes it will probably drop to 2 or 3... well that's my prediction... Imdb always overates new films, then it slowly falls after more people watch the film...

Anyway, can't wait to go and see this too!

    Re: The Dark Knight

I have been looking forward to this for ages

The viral marketing campaign has been immense.

Heath ledger is supposed to be amazing in the part of the joker with his co-stars saying he is the scariest bad guy they have seen since hanibal lector.

This summer has been brilliant for Comic book films that have had credibility and Dark knigth really looks the mutts

    Re: The Dark Knight

i saw the prologue with the first 6 minutes of the movie and it looks fantastic. i hope the film lives up to all the hype it's been getting. i watched the last movie in HD again for about the fifth time and it's still an impressive film. i did love jack in the old batman movie though. hard to think that was nearly 20 years ago

    Re: The Dark Knight

I saw this last week. It is everything people say it is!

I'd predict it ends up in the low 20s on IMDB.

Sure hope this one isn't all hype and nothing else - all the comments and the media stuff has really driven up my expectations.

    Re: The Dark Knight

It's still sitting at 9.7 with over 45,000 votes. TeePee, I reckon you might be underestimating the effect of Ledgers death. I reckon this'll turn into a cult classic, #9 in the long term.

    Re: The Dark Knight

Suicide. He shagged the Olsen twins and realised life would never be any better.

There have been only two films in the top 20 from the last 10 years and one of them, while a good solid film, is only really there thanks to a large ethnic vote. New films often find themselves at the top shortly after release, mainly because the fans rush to see them. Iron Man was also at the top for a short period, and is now languishing in the 150+ range.

I'll take #23 six months from today. Anyone else for the pool?
