Ok, so British cinema's not quite Hollywood, but we've made the odd stellar flick! Bluddy rude if you ask me, what!Originally Posted by independent.co.uk

But the french have a very insular view of cinema, TV, radio and the media in general. I would guess there are French films in there that wouldn't make it to any elses great film lists.
That is a very strange list of films...
Citizen Kane I can understand, Orson Wells was very much ahead of his time his films are probably more popular now than when they were made.
The list doesn't look very contemporary and I dare say there are some blinding omissions of some more recent films that have been just stunning... The question I would ask is what age group did they survey to get that list?

"If you look at these choices, they are not the choices of film fans but of film specialists, and French film specialists at that"
No mention of age group, or of surveys . . . but even then, good films should be timeless. When you think about how many films there have been released (ever!) then the earlier ones have stood a greater test of time.
