Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

I get the Radio Times each week and I find the 5 star film ratings they give quite good. The Dark Knight has reached the film channels so there is a review this week. Link to review: http://www.radiotimes.com/servlet_fi...chTypeSelect=5

So now the hype is gone how good a film was it? It's been 5 or 6 months since I watched it, I remember Heath's scenes been gripping. I would rate it as 5 stars and I'm looking forward to watching the film again, I'm just wondering if it will drop down in my opinion on a second viewing?

    Radio Times star rating used
    5 stars - Outstanding
    4 stars - Very good
    3 stars - Good
    2 stars - Average
    1 star - Poor

First viewing was immense, I certainly agree with you on Heath's performance, it was scary. Having got the DVD i've watched it.. x amount of times since and it's still fantastic. I wouldn't give it anything less than top marks as it ticked all the boxes for me.

x can't be revealed for health reasons lol

I do hope they make at least one more of these with the current cast and the Nolans writing/directing. That said, if it can't trump The Dark Knight which could be very difficult indeed maybe they shouldn't.

I enjoyed it so much that I have the Blu-ray and have watched that a fair few times, but I'm off to see it at the IMAX screen in London in a few weeks.

Ledger was wonderful as the Joker. I was truly surprised by how maniacal he was. Superb.

I absolutely love, and still watch the DVD regularly.
The main problem for me was, Ledger's performance as the joker was so good, the parts that didn't involve the joker seemed a bit.... meh.

For me it felt like two films shoe-horned into one without quite enough attention to either. Ledger was mesmerising but as samcross says above, when he wasn't around the film dragged a bit for me. The Harvey Dent and related storyline didn't grab me at all.

That Radiotimes review is a bunch of rubbish.

It says the HK subplot was pointless? It's because Bruce decides to go to HK that allows the Joker to wreak havoc. Idiots.

Of course, and while not such a good reason, it had one of the best visuals/stunts in the movie

Re: Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

It was OK, Heath's performance was outstanding and stopped the film being poor IMO.

Some of the fight scenes were way too dark (I've watched it in the cinema and on my HTPC in HighDef) and it contained way too much filler......I can't remember another film at all recently that I wanted to see so much, yet dragged once I was watching it =/

Compared to Batman Begins, it was pants TBH.

Watched it four or five times now at the cinema/on bluray and as far as I'm concerned it's a shining example of just how good a comic book movie can be. There are a few minor niggles, the biggest for me being the scene when batman dives head first out of a window to save Rachel leaving the joker in a crowded room still looking for Harvey Dent, except we never get to see what the joker does are we supposed to assume he just leaves with his goons or what?

I like to think he had a chat about his manners and then politely excused himself and his goons.

Or they scarpered due to eventual (?) police involvement.

It was something I thought about once.. and then ignore every time as I do think it's fantastic.

Re: Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

I watched it twice in the cinema. After I watched it the first time I thought I really wanted to see it again.

But when I saw it the second time the following week, not sure if I was just tired or what, but didnt really get sucked into it, found myself daydreaming about other stuff.

    Still a good film though!

Re: Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

There is deffinatly a lot more impact first time round so if you are yet to see it I would hit the cinema or IMAX when it is re-released

Re: Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

Never went to see it in the cinema, but watched it when it came out on dvd. Really blew me away, the joker is simply an amazing character. I think it is a great film and worthy of the hype. Would still rate it 4/5 however, as without Heath I probably wouldn't have liked the film a great deal to be perfectly honest.

Re: Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

I would never doubt Heaths performance, but I think it was "The Killing Joke" style joker which really made the movie. We will never know if he did it best or could have been bested by another actor but the film itself made such good use of the Grpahic Novels (I have now read) that it deserves it's own merit.

Re: Dark knight, dust settles, how does it rate for you?

Ledger as the Joker was brilliant, great effects, great casting for some of the smaller parts, felt like a Batman film should feel..... only niggle was the stuff with Harvey Dent..... as far as I'm concerned the film should have finished with The Joker hanging from the building..... the "extra" ending was unnecessary at best, and annoying at worst..... really couldn't wait for it to finish after a while, which was a shame as the majority of it was great.

4.5 out of 5 for me. Brilliant screenplay in the main, but compared to the first one the martial arts scenes were a little slow paced for my liking. It's also a bit of a mammoth and on BD they used Dolby for sound, grr...

Ledger steals the show obviously, and it's got a Lambo in it as well. Win
