The movie Shinobi: Hear Under Blade? Yes, that's how I discovered the anime. And I found out about the movie thanks to Ayumi's song.
@e-LAN-go: Yeah, I have read that the characters are generally colder in the manga which would definitely affect how the Kouga are perceived. Having said that, Tenzen is still a ______ either way isn't he? He still tried to 'make Oboro his wife' (putting it nicely) in both medium right?
Then again, I may not sympathise with Akeginu and Chikuma as much in the manga either. Well, if I have the time I may read it at some point. I liked the movie and anime, but I've got other mangas I'd like to read first.
Just watched back to back the season of "DearS".
I likey! Won't be to everyone's taste being a sci-fi ecchi-comedy but I enjoyed the 12 episodes. Ren is just adorably cute. Though let me get this straight....it doesn't really have much of a plot. (But then what do you expect from any ecchi-comedy?)
No idea what's next to watch....loving Cross Game but it's still airing.
Elfen Lied complete set available on Amazon now for £24
I just had delivered Patlabor 1 & 2: Collectors Edition £17.99 It's sexeh
Recently watched the first parts of the Karas OVA. The 2D/3D blending and animation is simply top notch; can't wait to watch the rest.
Shigurui: Nice swordplay, lots of gore/blood. Story line isn't fantastic by any means and I felt VERY short changed by it however I still enjoyed it for it's brutality.
Ahh Karas...as you say BSODMike, really great artwork/CGI. The story isn't up to par with the CGI/animation but it does make for a fantastic viewing. You'll enjoy it 0iD Especially the opening sequence of the very first episode. I could re-watch that time and time again.
I wonder if you can get it in blu-ray...deinfitely needs to be presented in 1080p format
Thread bump but what the hey
Finished "Princess Lover" a couple of nights back. It's a half season length series, so 12 episodes in total.
My thoughts on the show:
It's your run of the mill Ecchi/Harem/Comedy show however they have attempted some sort of plot. To surmise...the plot is....weak would be an understatement. Even on the Harem/Ecchi/Comedy side, it falls short of some of the more amusing series (Girls Bravo for example or Love Hina).
It's an average series which happens to try and add a plot, failing miserably at the latter with the detriment to the former.
Not saying it is terrible, far from it; I enjoyed a few episodes however as a series it's not all that impressive.
Another thread bump by me
So I been watching "Umineko no Naku Koro ni" (When the Seagulls Cry) lately and episode one is VERY misleading...infact I'm not too sure what the whole point of the anime is. It's like a cross between a supernatural murder mystery / tactical chess game with real people (or maybe the are not real). If anyone can shed some light on this show, please do. I'd like to enjoy it but for the life of me I can't work out what's supposed to be going on.
Onto another series I have been following (most likely mentioned before) is "Cross Game". Really enjoying this show about high school baseball...following Aoba, Kitamura, Azuma (and others) on their journey to the Koshien. It's nice to see so transparently what drives Kitamura to become a pitcher and to get as good as he has done so far. Bonus is the opening bit about how to draw Nomo the cat
Ahh yes, I also watched Kyakyuusei 2....never ever ever watch this pile of pants. Ever. Perfect to torture someone with though.
Oh and finished watching Tetsuwan Birdy Decode Series 2. Thoroughly enjoyed that show - and it's nice that series 2 takes a look at what makes Birdy...well...Birdy. I can recommend both Series 1 and 2 to people. Nice mix of action and character development and the plot is ok (nothing complex). Animation/drawing isn't the best - Birdy/Arita Shion sometimes looks badly drawn. One aspect I like is the way both main characters (Tsutomu and Birdy in the same body) respectively look back at what they have lost. Opening tune is superb!
A further bumper as i'm a selfish bugger
New series, Kamfer. Seems quite amusing. Story is about a guy who enters some fighting competition; the caveat being only girls can compete and so...when he goes into fighting mode, he turns into a girl. Right now, he has no idea how to control when or how he switches. Provides a few yucks and is lining itself up to be a run of the mill fighting/harem/gender bender comedy. Think Ranma 1/2, then tone down the humour. Well that's all I can get from episode 1. I can imagine situations of girl(really boy) on girl action. Already there is a silly "love" polygon...I should re-phrase that...lust polygon.
One bad aspect of Kamfer is the unoriginal artistic drawing of the characters. Now unless this is supposed to be a parody, it's like taking some bad attempts at hiding that the character drawings were ripped off from other series.
Update to Umineko no Naku Koro ni: So I am slowly getting to grips with the story and right at this moment, I don't want to watch the same "closed room" murders repeating again. I do hope with the introduction of a key character (Ep14) that this game between Battler and Beatrice progresses beyond re-killing various people in some game of wit...
Watching Pani Poni Dash at the mo and loving it! Not got the full set, owing to being jobless at the mo, but it's ace.
It's Coyote Ragtime Show & Jinki:Extend for me tonight
and just a *bit* jealous of Sleepy & Gerrard being in Japan at the mo... grrr
