Eh, started some other series' as well:
Tokyo Majin - Eh, the first one... isn't bad but a little bit all over the place story-wise.
Kokkaku no Regios - Also interesting but this jumps about plot wise more than the above.
Tengen Toppa - Friends recommended it... it's alright but not really gotten into it as such.
EDIT: Oh, and i finished watching Kure-nai, wasn't bad, little strange... gets funnier during the middle of the "season" and then gets more "serious"
Just to let you guys know I have not forgotten about this thread. I been reading Claymore manga and been tied up with training due to the fact my clan wants to enter ESL...(freaking nutters...).
Anyhow to keep things relatively relevant to the thread title...
Claymore anime:
I like it, I really do. The anime follows the manga quite closely and flows very nicely. The anime and manga "split" at around episode 19 (ish) or book volume...11 (i think from memory). The anime had to have an "end" and developed the main character Clare in a different way. The manga at this point is rather poor at this moment as the author drastically increased Clare's development.
The downside to the anime is how it ended the season...it doesn't lead on well for linking up again with the manga if they try a season 2. Also because the anime series ended it left alot of unanswered questions and this is most likely due to the manga story arc still being in progress.
For a nice action/drama/gorey anime, I can highly recommend Claymore and if you can't wait for a UK release, go get the books. Not the best but thoroughly enjoyable!
I just finished Saikano - I dunno, I liked the first few episodes, but it was a real drag watching the last half of it. Thankfully it was only 13 episodes long.
I don't like the vulnerable-always-apologising-meant-to-be-cute characters, they drive me up the wall, and when the whole story is about one....sheesh....
I actually liked Saikano...though maybe I just liked it for the ending. It certainly wasn't what I expected. I like tragic love stories...though you may find Tsukihime and Kiminozo a drag too but neither of those really have the vulnerable-always-apologising-meant-to-be-cute characters...well kiminozo sort of does with Haruka...
Still been meaning to try and get into Noein, the subtitling just does my nut in and I'm not watching it dubbed.
I've been hopping between a couple anime's and have worked my way though most of Death Note; am loving it and thanks a lot to Brucells for his help!
At the moment thought, I'm a tad annoyed about how Light gave up being 'Kira', but maybe I just need to watch the rest...it feels like the plot is about to take a bit of a twist just for the sake of extending the lifespan of the series (at 37 eps!).
Thanks to sleepyhead, I have enough anime now to last me the next six months, of constant watching ^^
Watching Hayate no Gotoku, if you've watched qutie a few other animes you'll pick up quite a few references to other ones which i find hilarious. Although there are still a load which i don't understand which kinda detracts from the whole thing.
NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They changed the opening tune of Toradora! to something utterly...bad. I want to hack and slash the old opening to the new episodes....
Oh Hayate no Gotoku is similar to Lucky Star as well as Abenobashi Magical Shopping Arcade..lots of parodies so to get full enjoyment, you really need to be an Otaku.
The tune of Pre-Parade is my 3G's ringtone ^^ Toradora is one of my favs...!!
Mini Review: Shikibane Hime Aka & Kuro / NO SPOILERS!!
Just finished watching Shikibane Hime Aka and the current (still running) continuation Shikabane Hime Kuro (only 4 eps out so far). It's about how when someone dies they have attachments to this world and this will cause them to become 'Shikabane's or corpses; in this sense, creatures that are the living-dead set out to harm living humans.
There is a Buddhist clan of monks who have also enlisted the aid of Shikabane 'Princesses/Goddesses' (Hime's) who happen to be hot, well *cough* blessed *cough* beauties, trained to kill the regular corpses. The catch, if the Himes kill 108 corpses they can go to heaven (or strictly speaking, reach enlightenment).
What is great about this series is that it caters much to ecchi lovers (tee hee ^^) and the character bond between each Hime and their 'contracted priests' is much like, for a few, a romantic love affair.
Animation is good, plot is *interesting*, and is pretty decent series if you're into the whole 'undead' / resident evil sorta bits. One ep with crying babies gave me the right creeps though, as I was watching well past 2am....
Never thought about finding an mp3 of the opening ... have "purasu, purasu dakedo mainasu" as my msn message though lol.
.... must. find. toradora ringtone.
+ agree @ the new theme tune... same with To Aru Majutsu no Index ;(.
I should be updating the thread but instead have been troubleshooting my PC That and watching more anime...
Had the opportunity to watch Volume 5 of Kara no Kyoukai...2 hours of pure entertainment. Slightly confusing in the way they told the story, but it was interesting none the less and I never noticed it to be almost 2 hours long!
Also, recapped on SDF Macross...just makes me recall how many references to this original series is used in Macross Plus, Macross Zero and Macross F; absolutely brilliant (if you are a fan). The movie, SDF Macross: Do You Remember Love? wasn't as good as I had remembered...it tried to cram in too much and in the end almost 2 hours of subjects the movie barely touched upon.
Still can't get round Noein and the silly subtitles...
0iD:
Have you watched Rosario+Vampire yet?
Well I've been busy, among other things, and catching up on some anime. So far completed watching:
Simply put, if you ever come across it I would not recommend School Days even if you're after something ero/ecchi it actually has the entire opposite effect, well if you have any morals and a conscience that is.
- Chobits < SUPERB, the cutest and definitely now one of my favourites. Everytime "Chi" went 'chi~~~?', my heart melted xD
- Code Geass & R2 < I wish I'd seen this a long while back. The ending of R2 was a bit sad and I guess left open for a follow up. C. C. and Kallen are my favs Lelouch is just pure evil...in a good way at times ;-)
- School Days - ugh, I'm going to rant off on this one. It has been done in the poorest taste. The lead character is a spineless womanizer (and mind you, these are "high school" kids). He just walks over every single girls heart in the show. Unlike some anime though, the ending is appropriate. One of those anime's you wish you never watched as I just felt sad and depressed as he moved on from classmate to classmate..."彼は最悪です"
