It's odd that there doesn't seem to be the standard 'Currently Listening to' thread that propagates on many forums. Maybe it's just viewed as spam; so in an attempt to go one better than spamming a song and artist randomly, how about this challenge for you:
Simply list 1-5 songs (with explanation if you like) that people might not otherwise have heard of, or noticed in a while.
I'm intrigued to broaden my horizons and check random stuff out on Spotify.
1. Lisa Hannigan - I Don't Know - If you remember the name she's 'that girl off of Damien Rice'. Released her album 'See Sew' in Sept 2008. Saw her live in London and her voice just melts me.
2. The Reindeer Section - Raindrop - Collaborative album from a bunch of artists in Edinburgh, including contributors from Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Snow Patrol, Arab Strap etc. Like Above, quite mellow.
3. Audio Bullys - I Go To Your House- These guys did the song from Kill Bill (Shoot you down), and also had a couple songs get radio play, The Things being one you'd recognise. A lot different to the other 2 I've put above.
4. Johnny Cash - Hurt - I'd be shocked if anyone hadn't heard this, but is a great cover and a man-song.
