Battlestar - Where did Starbuck go (Warning Spoiler)

If there is anyone out there reading this who intends to wach the newer Battlestar Galactica - and hasn't - don't read on!!!

I have just finished season 4.5 - the end - feeling a little gutted TBH as In my humble opinion, and as a fan of the original as a kid, I must say that it is quite possible the best Sci-Fi TV series I have ever seen. Admittedly Firefly never had the chance to come into fruition in the same way but as it stands BSG is king in my eyes.

But I was left a little confused - I think I got the whole Baltar/six thing - guiding light/godlike 'angels' -but WTF happened to Starbuck?

KK that makes sense, I think. So the Starbuck that 'died' in the crash was Human starbuck - and Starbuck that returned was an angel?

Correct - she was sent from God in a recognisable figure to the survivors in order to guide them on the right path, complete with the memories she needed in order to do that.

I love BSG but the end was so bad and the Starbuck thing was stupid.

The ending seemed a bit too matrixy for me. Other then the last 20 mins or so though, the series was amazing.

Hmm, I'm glad you said that, I did feel a little shortchanged at the end - it all felt a little 'unfinished'
However how do you end a legend of a series like that...........

Re: Battlestar - Where did Starbuck go (Warning Spoiler)

My advice to anyone starting the series is to stop at the end of series 2 and pretend it was cancelled.

The finale was so bad, it made me want to become rich merely for the sake of having it rewritten and acted again.

Re: Battlestar - Where did Starbuck go (Warning Spoiler)

BSG had a terrible ending and it seem rushed. Most people I know did not think it was that great and TBH Firefly is far better than BSG. I also prefer Lost much more to it as well. I really hope that the ending of Lost is not messed up.

I thought it was very good but as already mentioned the ending was a bit "meh".

I wonder if they were told to wrap it up mid series and had to rush the ending or something??

Re: Battlestar - Where did Starbuck go (Warning Spoiler)

BSG got off to a cracking start and seemed like it was set to put it self up there on the wall of fame with the all time greats. Then it got itself all bogged down in the 'politics' and 'religion' and before you knew it BSG was something I had to force myself to sit through some episodes.

Granted the writers said it was more about character development than good old shoot em up sci-fi but I honestly didn't care by the end, I simply wanted closure after investing time into the series.

Some loved it, some hated it. I'm not entirely sure where I sit, I loved some of it, hated most of it but nonetheless I'm still happy they came back to a classic and wiped off the cheese to make something more gritty.

I too loved BSG and IMHO is one of the best TV series ever. I believe there is a mini movie due next month on Sky called The Plan, and then a follow up TV series called Caprica. I can't wait!

Caprica looks good, see how it goes as far as the network leaving the writers alone to write and dont get too involved. Hopefully after how BSG went they'll leave them alone.
