Forgotten that Metallica used to be really good band

I was looking through my cds before work tonight picked out and justice for all and the black album.

Listening to justice for all atm and cant believe how good its sounding. I went off them round about the load and reload albums and really went off them after lars bitching at napster but they used to be an amazing band

I lost interest about the time of ...And Justice for All personally, Master of Puppets was such an epic at the time, I still remember listening to it for the first time & feeling the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I think they started to lose the anger of their youth at that point (for me).

Ride the Lightning to ... Justice were fantastic albums. The Black album was too commercial and the startof their downfall IMHO. Death Magnetic is pretty decent though, I was pleasantly surprised by that.

They still are especially if you go see them live, I've seen them seven times now after this weekend and they never fail to put on an awesome show, the tracks they're playing off Death Magnetic work really well live as well

I had the same feeling about "The Sisters of Mercy" who also suffered with the lead singer being a prat, "First last and always" is an impressive album, particularly when you havn't listened to it on principle for 4 years! I think its time to put more "Golden Oldies" on, cues up "Jesus built my hotrod" (by ministry).

I've only seen them once - the Big Day out in Milton Keynes in 1999 (I think it was). I had tickets anyway, but won 2 from the VH1 rock show. Neato!

Re: Forgotten that Metallica used to be really good band

I'm off to NYC in November & Metallica are playing Madison Square Garden - about 10 days before we arrive.

    Typical!
