Yeah sort of dipping in and out of the news around it, it sounds interesting but not exactly a new concept.

Not entirely sure what to think of it yet, I suppose it's all in the delivery.

The trailer looks interesting. I may have to check this out. For those who don't know, this film is the aftermath of the failed Halo film. Lots of politics went on in the back ground and no one could agree, so Halo film was scrapped and this was the outcome of the Jackson/Blomkamp project. Even the music has some Halo influence.

I think it's all about the undertones of the apartheid, although there's apparently some sort of twist in the end (isn't there always?). Either way, one to go and watch methinks

With a title of District 9 I think it's gonna get a bit confused with that French film Distict 13!

    Re: District 9

I saw the trailer for this the other day and all the way through it was thinking "this looks like the new Halo movie" only to discover it's some weird mongrel child spawned from disputes between Peter Jackson and who knows. Disappointing and I don't think it really appeals to me as a standalone film.

There was no dispute with Jackson. The dispute was with two different film companies with Jackson and Blomkamp stuck in the middle.

    Re: District 9

I found the acting in this cheesy at the start, but it does get better and it's well worth seeing compared to most of the rubbish out there.
    Pretty good overall.

Curiously the trailers seem to contain some material not in the cinema version.. I guess that means a DVD with extras

Its a marmite type of film, if your into exploring things from the norm, then should be more your thing. Personally not my cup of tea, I would of preferred less comedy!

Those scenes were filmed "just for the trailer", and never intended to go in the film.
Felt a bit conned about that TBH.

But its a great film nonetheless.

I noticed that too. Bit of a shame, but like you say, perhaps there will be longer sections a little clips on the DVD. And yep, good film

    Re: District 9

I enjoyed it, nice to see an Alien film with a different angle.

Always look forward to Peter Jackson, although I try to pretend King Kong didn't happen... awaiting The Hobbit, Halon and Adventures of Tin Tin ...
