Film looks like a typical Hollywood blockbuster type, but i think it is very foil tin hat time if you read to much into it :)

Saw it tonight, not bad but not overly impressed. Not much reference to the Mayan calendar, just a CGI special affects bonanza overload overall.
The storyline isn't that good, well what do you expect :P
They tried to make some touching moments too.
Personally, I liked the film but found it was too long. The CGI was really nice though (everything looked real xD) but tell me a blockbuster that doesn't have good CGI effects.
All in all it's worth the cinema ticket but not a must see.
It's alright i suppose. Effects were fantastic i agree.
I can't remember the last time I actually enjoyed a disaster film. I don't have high hopes for this one.
Awful, truly awful film. I want the arse numbing two and whatever hours of my life it stole back. How could John Cusack end up in such a terrible film?? Weak plot, dismal, script, woeful dialogue and it stole just about every good scene from every other disaster movie made complete with cheesy dialogue.
This is the best trailer for the film:

I know it is not a real one but it is funny!!
Sums up the film perfectly.
Supposedly a TV series is going to be based on the film.
Just got back from watching it, oh dear, it could have been so much better, it just turned out to be a cliche and chesse sandwich with extra cheese and extra cliche.
I have no problem suspending disbelief in order to put myself in the mindset of "wow, what if this happened? what would i do?" Disaster movies are only ever any good if you can somehow emphasize with the characters. But the corny lines, coincidences after coincidences, were just TOO MUCH!
It got to the point where it felt like they were just taking the micky with it all, as if they said "oh well, if people are allowing themselves to believe that mother nature could do this, lets just let everyone defy death at every turn with super abilities their character has no right having."
I mean, it's the end of the world as we know it for gods sakes, it really didn't need jazzing up with rubbish like planes taking off just before the end of runways, cars jumping every 20seconds and not landing in a broken heap, and probably the worst of all..... every vehicle that came to a stop didn't have to end up perched precariously over a bloody precipice of some kind.
It was too much, simply just too much. certainly didn't need the cliched "Oh No! One more final unexpected setback/disaster that's always at the end of these films" being about 30mins long.
CATS link above pretty much sums it up.
Tbh, the TV series could be the best thing to come out of it, the whole idea of having to resettle and rebuild humanity, has so many story ideas to explore. But it'll no doubt be rubbish too.
I don't even remember posting in this thread :(
It was terrible :( Thought it would never end as well!! Can\'t believe Cusack done it......
Effects were good but most were laughable. I told my gf at the end that all the automobiles he drove must of been tanks cause they took a hell of alot of damage but just kept on going!!!
But yea folks.... Save your money!!!
