    Slayer - World Painted Blood

So, a triumphant return to form from Slayer, or a pile of pants?

Personally, the more I listen to it, the more it rocks my world.

hrm, this was completely off my radar as the last album was a bit meh for me.
How would you say it stands up to the old stuff from the first few albums?

Re: Slayer - World Painted Blood

Takes a couple of listens imo, some of the stuff is classic Slayer of old, some... not so. However, as an album it holds together well. Listened to it first on we7 before I purchased I must admit.

Re: Slayer - World Painted Blood

Thats a nifty website, had a listen through of the album just now.
Can definitely hear the old sound in quite a few of the tracks.
I dunno, there where decent riffs and its good to hear some disgusting slayer solos again, but it still lacked balls for me. I'll give it another go at the weekend if I remember.
A couple of the shorter tracks stood out most for me, ripped straight in and exited without faffing.

Thanks for the heads up, will have to give it a listen. They're playing here in 10 days or so, not got a ticket yet but I'm very tempted.

Alice in Chains tonight first though - looking forward tot hat one.

Re: Slayer - World Painted Blood

Finally got around to listening to this on the train home yesterday night and it's definitely better than Christ Illusion in my opinion, it's no Reign in Blood or South of Heaven but it'll do nicely and I look forward to seeing them play some of it live

How were Alice in Chains? They were wicked in brum when I saw them

Re: Slayer - World Painted Blood

Yeah, I enjoyed it too, gave it a half listen the other day.

AIC were excellent - there had been various rumours about no support act, and them doing "An Evening with" but they didn't. Still, they were really enjoying themselves, played all the songs you'd expect plus some of Black Gives Way to Blue, and were pretty energetic, even slwoing things down with an acoustic slot about 1/2 way in.

    I thoroughly enjoyed it.
