Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax to tour together

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax to tour together
Hard rock heavies Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax will tour together in 2010.

All four bands will take part in the travelling Sonisphere Festival, starting on June 16 at Bemowo Airport in Warsaw, Poland, reports Billboard.

The groups are currently confirmed to play together at single dates in Warsaw and Prague, with talks ongoing for other appearances.

The Sonisphere Festival also includes two-night stands in Sofia, Bulgaria, Bucharest, Romania, Istanbul, Turkey and Knebworth, England.

Thats a sweet lineup. I saw that slayer are doing a tour with megadeth and testament and was hoping they would come over here with that show too.
Who is singing for anthrax? I saw them with the new replacement guy but apparently they got rid of him shortly after.

damn! maiden and rammstein are playing knebworth with them too.

Sounds awesome, not liking the idea of a 150 mile trip to see them though..

The big four on tour together that's gonna be one hell of a weekend

It's been rumoured since August that they were gonna do something together but I thought Kerry King put the kibosh on it after he put his foot in it with Anthrax just after Sonisphere this year. Nice to see that's not the case. You can get a free ticket to Sonisphere Poland if you buy one for Knebworth before December 31st as well.

So far only Anthrax and Slayer are confirmed for Knebworth, still...... no prizes for guessing where I'm going this summer

John Bush has been back on vocals since summer this year and he's doing a damn fine job too

Re: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax to tour together

I doubt very much Metallica will be playing Sonishpere again next year after headlining this year.

If they do play a festival it will probably be Download as I wouldn't think Metallica would want to be anything less than the main headline act, and as Maiden and Rammstein are the confirmed headliners for Sonisphere 2010...

Still could happen I guess, this years download was rejigged to accomodate the return of Faith No More, so anything can happen. lol.

Its a good job Im working again as 2010 is going to be an expensive year if the DOwnload line up is as good as it was this year. lol.

At the moment my money's on them playing Download as well, AC/DC are rumoured and it's the (30th?) anniversary of Monsters of Rock so that sounds about right to me if they're gonna make a big deal out of it, even though Download is now so far removed from Monsters of Rock in both location and line-up they're completely different festivals

Hmmm, can't say I agree there. Location wise, its still Donnington, just a different, larger, part of it.

Had MoR continued it would by now have become what Download is.

I attended loads of MoRs and this year was, to my shame, my first Download. I felt like nothing had really changed, the people were just as friendly, the bands were as ever awesome, the only real difference was the hole in my bank account, lol.

I might have been a bit melodramtic with the whole "completely different" line but I miss the stage being inside the circuit, being off in some field over the other end doesn't feel as much like Donnington to me

The line-ups have been a bit hit and miss as well, they were great to begin with then in 2007 we had Offspring and Lost Prophets as headliners, it felt more like Reading/Leeds than Download/MoR to me. This year was very very good though, Faith No More blew my arse off tbh

Re: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax to tour together

Partially on the strength of this thread, and partially as I am slowly getting bored of my almost two-decade old passion for tech-house/D&B/breaks/rave I checked out Metallica's offerings on YouTube. They're a bit good aren't they?! Any tips for a starter album? Is there a best of perhaps?

Re: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax to tour together

Indeed they are, but then I'm a bit biased as they're one of my all time favourite bands

There's no best of unfortunately but the black album is probably the best one to start off with if you've not listened to much Metallica. You'll know at least a couple of the tunes on there and it's probably their most accessible album. After that it depends which songs you enjoy, if you like the heavier, faster thrash style stuff then the first three albums (Kill 'em all, Ride the lightning and Master of puppets) are the way to go along with their most recent album - Death Magnetic. If you prefer the slower more mainstream material then I'd recommend skipping the early stuff and going straight for Load, Reload and Garage inc
