Up is mine, funny and really played on the emotions in places
Avatar was very nice to look at but is too long and some of the story was rammed down your throat multiple times - very painful

Above all I loved 'Let the Right one in'
I went into it knowing absolutely nothing about it, which I think really made it that bit more special to me.
Special mentions go to ...
Red Cliff - who knew that John Woo had a grand epic in him?!
Up - I'm a 30 year old male and felt no shame in openly blubbing in the cinema, great emotional moments
"UP"
no doubt... a top top film, of depth and brilliance.

I would say its between Moon, District 9 or Inglourious Basterds.
Hard to choose the best of the three though.
Okay it's not a 2009 film, but I only saw it in 2009 for the first time - Hellboy II![]()
For me it's a toss up between Inglorious Basterds, District 9 and Watchmen.
I'll say Watchmen, just because I've seen it quite a number of times more than the others and still enjoy the hell out of it.
Pretty tough to choose only one so I'll list a few from different genres that I enjoyed a lot.
In no particular order:
District 9, Coraline, Drag me to hell, 500 days of summer.
Not from 09 but The Signal gets a mention as it seems not many have seen it.
Inglourious Basterds, Star Trek, Transformers 2 or Brüno....
I think that really sums up how bad the film industry was in 2009![]()

District 9 is my all time favourite of 2009.
It had everything I could ask for in a film.
Cracking storyline, brilliant acting and it didn't need too much over the top CGI ( a lá transformers ) to get the story across.
For me my favourites were Gran Torino, Watchmen and Star Trek
Gran Torino is such a powerhouse of a movie. Only seen the first half hour of Inglorious and really liked what I seen, need to pick it up on BluRay
transformers 2 ... hands down
Been some good movies this year, personal faves were Harry Brown, Avatar and District 9.
I was hoping it would be transformers 2, but Bay really let us down. Hangover was my favourite above all others but really need to see District 9 it seems.
Completely forgot about Bruno, Gran Torino and Star Trek to be honest. No idea why, all 3 were excellent movies.
