An excellent experience
An average film made great by the 3D effects
Average
Crap!
The 2D version was better

Had to 'Show posts in the last 100 days' to get to this thread. I finally watched this movie last night, in IMAX 3D and I definitely enjoyed it. 3D was done very well though I am not sure if it's because the movie made good used of it, or because IMAX 3D is just better than Cineworld 3D in ways other than the big screen.
It may not be the most original movie by a long shot, but the implementation is very good. CG and actor melded well together. I didn't find the acting bad or distractingly so. Pacing was fine for a movie of this duration.
Overall, I'd say that I'd say that the movie is no master piece but better than average (7/10). The 3D is great, but I wouldn't add more than a point for that. Overall, it's closer to Advent Children (though not quite) than Spirits Within in my book.
Wait, its still on at the pictures - i've yet to see it :/
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Well, Titanic ran for 9 months, and I don't think it's the longest either. Not too common, I am not that surprising (I always intended to watch it around now).
The effects were really well done..BUT the dialogue was cringe-worthy in the extreme..and the story little better.
Thats two movies I've been to see in HD - Avatar and Clash of the titans - I can honestly hand on heart say I HATE 3D!!!!
The picture is split into several stages - with the first stage being clear as HD, the second stage being slightly blurrier, third stage even blurrier etc etc. - This for me defeats the purpose of HD and of Avatar especially as whats the point in watching blurry backgrounds when thats where all the HD effects take place?
I'm usually optimistic about new technology - but 3D for me seems like a step back from the current HD technology
Meh the 3D didn't help it imho. It was a mediocre story with pretty pictures. And some of my friends walked away with headaches from the 3D glasses.
Can't see where all the hype was.. this 3D stuff has been around for ages and just now because it's making a comeback everyone's all wow amazing. :\
Anyone else think this was some major plagiarism of Miyazaki's work?
ie: Princess Mononoke + Laputa Castle in the Sky + Nausicaa
I thought Avatar was over-hyped, storyline has been done a thousand times over by Hollywood. The visuals were stunning, but, in parts clearly cartoonist. FernGully: The Last Rainforest, same story no 3D and the baddie was Hexxus.
It may be a coincidence, last three big box office films I've seen which disappointed have same thing in common - Sam Worthington (Terminator - Salvation, Clash of the Titans & Avatar). Not his fault just that the movies were average.
As a student of media technology, technically it's pretty good...but the story, was complete cheese strings.
**Possible Spoilers**(though if you haven't seen this film yet you must be one of the couple of people in the World who hasn't)
I just love films. I don't go expecting to pick holes in every plot dialogue cliché or because the story has been told in numerous other films. I go for the film in question. And watching it in 3D or 2D Blu-ray I was just thoroughly entertained.
I mean, come on, the place is just gorgeous to visit. Plenty of tense chase action (Sully being chased by that big snappy jawed thing), plenty of emotion (when Sully first gets his legs back), plenty of big bang action (shooting that tree down/final battle), some tense emotional chase action with a few crashes but no big bangs (when he gets his Dragon thing and they go for a fly then get chased by a bigger Dragon thing.
Oh, you get the idea. It's just a chilled flick, and definitely one of the better ones out at the moment. I liked it.
I suppose i gave in to the hype just to see what the fuss was all about and my take on it:
a decent film (especially the Colonel) with some of the best visuals around, which was awesome.
Definitely worth seeing on the big screen in 3D. Okay the plot wasn't the most original and sometimes the 3D felt like it was added into certain scenes just because it was a 3D film.
Will lose a lot on the small screen, but will still sell more 3D TV 's than anything else.
