The Kings Speech
*****
The story of King George VI of Britain, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it.
Not that this 'sounds' like the most exciting film committed to print, but as a gripping character piece there are few that are better.
It's just Excellent. And deserves the hype it's been receiving.
As you'd imagine, Colin Firth's performance is stand out stunning. And not to forget Geoffrey Rush, who also impresses.
The pair play off each other perfectly, and there is a warmth in the relationship that look truly genuine. And whenever there is a falling out, you feel as stung as the characters on screen.
The set's, atmosphere and additional characters, played by Helena Bonham Carter and Guy Pearce, are all magnificent. You won't be disappointed.

Re: The Kings Speech
Just watched this myself, and agree with all you've said. Surprisingly funny in places, and you really feel for the characters.

Re: The Kings Speech
Ever since I inadvertently listened to a radio 4 dramatisation of this I have been intrigued by the story and on hearing it's production eagerly waiting for this film, such an interesting and thoroughly British story. I can't wait to see it :)

Re: The Kings Speech
i finally got to see this last night.
the actors performances were very very good, but the story was a bit too sentimental and predictable for my tastes. 6/10

Re: The Kings Speech
It looks almost as insanely boring as Black Swan, but OK, I might give it a go.
