Never watched Avatar because it struck me as being over hyped ****e from the outset.
And I can agree with you on Inception, thoroughly average. There were a few moments when it started getting good, but overall pretty mediocre.
Inception seemed to me like they were rushing to cram too much into an already long movie and ended up not explaining much. You could say it's because I'm slow and a pleb, but I spent too much time trying to work out why they were doing one thing when they had already moved on to the next. I think it was a good idea but badly directed so the story wasn't told well.
It's been a while since I watched it, but I think one of the problems in the plot was that they never really explained why they could go into other people's dreams, or whether it was widespread in this alternate reality, or why they needed an architect to design the dreams. I never really worked out the significance of the Japanese guy or Robert Fischer.
I like movies where I end up with a good idea of what happened, but Inception just flashed through a lot of different places without going anywhere. I suppose it's because there wasn't a particularly obvious beginning, middle and end.
Inception I enjoyed, despite becoming horribly obvious how it was going to unfold...
Avatar on the otherhand is breathtakingly beautiful cgi-wise, but it was game over for me as soon as they decided to call the mineral "unobtanium"... possibly the most retarded name ever for a mineral ever - especially when theyre mining it, thus its hardly 'unobtainable'.
I actually face palmed in the cinema, much to the delight of the people around me![]()
Avatar had no story at all, very much predictable. Only reason it was so great was because of the outstanding CG and how it was integrated into the film. The actors were so terrible, it was like some B-film plastered with amazing CGI and interracial romance.
Thought Avatar was absolute tripe from start to..well half way through i couldn't stand it any longer..Inception was pretty good i thought.
I hated Avatar; you could have run Cheyenne Autumn through a blue filter and had pretty much the same thing going for you, with the difference that at least it would have been a John Ford movie.
I was being facetious. Still, having bad PR doesn't equal morals. Just means they are creepy slimy goits.
LoL! I forgot that was the name of the mineral. Thanks for reminding me of the terribly funny name.
That is true, there was no obvious beginning, middle and end. It was a film that was just "there". I think they explained why you needed an architect, about how the "invading person" shouldn't know the layout as to...affect the other person's dream with there own personification (????). It's been a few weeks since I've seen it now and to show that it was a drab movie, I've forgotten most of it.
Ahh well...at least Unstoppable was a nice rollercoaster, even if Hollywood embellished the story, changed the location and didn't mention the third "hero" guy...
Avatar was def not worth the publicity...
avatar was a amazing big let down....
Inception I enjoyed, despite Avatar is a fantastic to watch
Personal taste is a funny thing i love both these films got them on Bluray![]()
For me, they were both really REALLY good. Of course, the ideas behind aren't new but who cares, they were very nicely done, entertaining etc etc. I dont't understand why some people did not enjoy them.
