I guess letting the WWs through is no good for any one as you say regardless of whose left to deal with them ?

cant be many crows there either so Im guessing Mance plans to take them out fast them secure it against the WWs after his lot get through.
I just think the individual tribes of the north cannot stand against the WWs, so they had little choice but to unite and escape, and there's only one way out - south!

Crows have been neglected for year as the WWs have become myths, the Wall is probably at its most vulnerable now (wonder if GRRM was looking at the last days of Roman occupation of Hadrian's wall? Seems like a similar crisis situation that no-one in the capital appears to care about)...

better hope those WWs dont have undead Giants as well ,though it would be cool as hell if they did .

Interesting too how they left that pattern of horses like a symbol, Im assuming that guy we saw at the end of last season is the intelligence behind them, or at least some sort of commander a bit like the Witchking ? ( dont tell me )

So if its not an undead Lich raising / controlling them ( they are zombies afterall ) then it must be a very powerful Mage / Necro to resurrect the dead like that - or even a Deity / God ???

BTW The White Walkers were originally mostly called 'The Others' in the books but that had too many similarities to TV show 'Lost' (and/or the film of the same name starring Nicole Kidman) so they've emphasised WW in the HBO show instead.

Here's a quote from the wiki: 'The Others are not dead. They are strange, beautiful… think, oh… the Sidhe made of ice, something like that… a different sort of life… inhuman, elegant, dangerous.' GMMR said that in an email to an artist.

So they are not Undead themselves but appear to have the capacity to re-animate dead creatures & I've no doubt that inclues Giants!

I'd liken them to Dark Elves myself, but worse.

Hmmm they sound more like some subspecies of dryaid - Im not really sold on the undead thing either ( culture is saturated with it ) and dark elves doesnt seem like it would fit without also having dwarves and all the usual suspects too.

Perhaps a demon , because it would at least tie into darker magics hinted at , and 50 ft demon would be bad ass because it would be more than capable of taking on dragons too.

A demon with maybe the remnants of some other lost races like dark elves would work and make sense in terms of what they were fighting against too - namely man / extinction.

Give the Greyjoys some bloody krakens to rip at the dragons and Kings landing from the seas - and lets make it a real fight.

    Re: Game of Thrones

Yeah GRRM hasn't really explained much about 'the others' even in his last book, so he's leaving it l8. We know they're ancient and last attacked over 8000 years ago; what've they been doing since? Hibernating? They love ice and the cold, does that mean they can't really go too far south?

Lots of questions, I guess that makes it more intriguing....

PS Just thinking: the timing of the comet and the Long Winter, can't remember if there was a comet mentioned when the original WW invasion occurred.

Are you suggesting their aliens !!!??

Now that would be even more interesting...

Aliens taking the form of mythical / extinct creatures in order to survive their habitat .

It would explain the Horse crop circle too

LOL no I hadn't thought of that tbh, just that maybe the comet returning was a sign of the Long Winter to come (and the return of those best suited to surviving it, the WWs)...

Tho GRRM has a good track record in Sci-Fi & it'd make as much sense as anything else in a Fantasy novel

It would be good if there was some prequels to at least tell the story of the rebellion against the mad King - then again prequels tend to suck .

Can't wait for the new episode. They need to focus a bit more on Daenerys's storyline!

Im happy as it is so far - poor Theon what the hell was last week all about ?

For me this season so far Jamie has been the most interesting to see develop but now the focus has swung back to Daenery - thats good because last season Jamie esp was no existent.

Looks like the Hound is next to go
