Aye good series -looking forward to tonight's episode.
Can't wait for tonights episode, only a couple of minutes! Although I kind of spoilt it for myself by reading the books, so I know what's happening. Even so the series is turning out to be a fantastic interpretation of the books so I aren't bothered about knowing what's coming.
Enjoying it so far, Peter Dinklage does a great job as the midget (Tyrian?)
Winter is coming!
Finally got around to watching this, really enjoying it. Just hope it doesn't get cancelled like half the new shows I've liked recently, I think HBO will stick with it though, seems very popular.
Im loving it :D
There are only 3 eps of the season left. Does each season = 1 book?
I think its only 10. According to tv.com its 10 anyway.
Another fan of the show here.
I haven't read the books, I did start the first one but I generally have a bit of a snobbish avoidance to American fantasy (I know, I really shouldn't) and apart from the appearance of the usual suspects (like knitted mail, arrgh, rubbish and some obvious fibreglass and poorly designed armour) it's been a very enjoyable show so far. I'd only just started the first book (and I struggled a bit to get into it, TBH) when I heard it was coming to the gogglebox so, bravely, I gave up reading and waited for that instead.
I can see quite a strong Wars of the Roses influence in it so far (Robert Baratheon = Edward IV, or so I like to tell myself) which I also enjoy as that was my primary field of study for my PhD.
It took me two episodes to recognise Jerome Flynn! Peter Dinklage is excellent, in fact, the whole cast is superb. It was good to see Clive Mantle again and I like the oop narth kind of accents all the Northerners have.
I get the feeling it's probably not a good idea to develop fondness for any characters as I sense the proverbial axe could fall on any of them at any time.
I was surprised to see Charles Dance the other week :) Good show!
The actor playing Joffrey is so convincing that I want to punch him in the face! You just don't do that to good ol' Seen Been!
Will be interesting to see if they take out some of the more controversial stuff from the books out in later series. Excellent series though, is really faithful to the books.
Although I have to say, skipping the battle and not showing it?
That was just piss poor. If they keep that up people waiting for that will stop watching it and the show will die of death! If its just a one off then fine, but i was dissappointed. Been waiting all season for a battle and thats what I got. Ill give it a bit longer to see but, will depend on what comes later. if they do it again im out! and will read the books instead :P
Yeah that was disappointing as it was anticlimatic given the build up through out the series so far.
Perhaps HBO didn\'t want to risk that kind of money given they didn\'t know what kind of reception the series would get?
