    Re: Game of Thrones

Love GOT, am on the last published book and am also watching the TV series.
Very much looking forward to this weeks episode

A family fried is also a fan and has recorded a youtube video to the effect, he'll probably kill me for sharing but... shouldn't have put it on the internet if he didn't want people to view it.

Im sure there are lot more who've done worse over the years , after all Winterfell was his families enemy .

I just find torture pointless and annoying , and dont get what hes done that could warrant that beyond doing what he saw as his duty.

What that guy is doing , is much worse because he seems to be doing it for pleasure , with Theon you could at least argue there was a point to what he did - and felt he had to - but that guy - for me is just sick - he makes even Joffery almost adorable .

No, for being a ratty, traitorous little git who had kids killed on his behalf!!

I don't like torture and yes, he is a sicko (I can't remember the guy's name, the bastard of someone, IIRC) but I don't have a lot of sympathy for Theon.. this is a story with very few 'good guys' though, wouldn't you agree?

bah , Im just annoyed because I liked Theon making an arse of himself, and thought in time he might change like Jamie , but perhaps it was already too late that.

They should of just chopped him up and be done with it though, not all this pointless torture for nothing , when there could be other better scenes.

Bad Joke - but I wonder what we'll see in the uncut edition ?

    Re: Game of Thrones

I think Theon undergoes a change because of what he goes through, so they're showing it for a reason.. not that I've read the books (I don't seem to get on with his style of writing) but I do know there is more story to come for him, though I won't offer a spoiler (or hint on whether he has a long or short-term future!)

well, I dont think it will be a good one.

I suspect that bastard is Lord Boltons ( after Jamies ordeal Im starting to really loathe this house ) and Theons men offered him in exchange to escape with their own lives .

Why , because that guy plays the trumpet , and when Theon had WF he would always get awoken by a trumpet from his sleep and threaten to get him as sort of joke , but it looks like the joke was on him all along..

remember it was this guy who suggested attacking WF and KO'd him , so it my guess he set him up all along , and his sister
was aware or suspicious of it - hence the warning , mention of how she could trust her crew etc

    Ah..poor Theon you gullible fool.

    Re: Game of Thrones

In the books the Theon saga goes down somehow differently, the torturer's background is already more or less known by the time they meet and there is a slight twist in the way Theon is captured.

After that Theon's fate is not known to the reader and he only reappears after a considerable amount of time, it becomes clear he has been horribly tortured during that time. I didn't expect to see him in this season at all, especially given how frantic book 3 is, but it seems they choose to play his fate in the viewers eyes.

Theon was dealt bad cards, loyalty to this family or to those who have treated him reasonably well given the circumstances. Obviously viewers/readers feelings rose high against him after what he had done to the Starks, but recent events should add some level of empathy or at least some ambiguity towards the character's fate.

The bear, the bear, the bear, the bear, the bear, the bear...

...and the maiden fair. Well she has fair hair anyway...

The Lannister's got fairly well treated this episode, I even felt a little sorry for that little **** Joffrey. Charles Dance oozing patronising menace, as usual...

And Jaime being heroic too, well well. Always more interesting when a person goes against their perceived character...

Jon Snow & Ygritte (sp?) has all the makings of a tragic passion (Tristan & Isolde spring to mind, not because it's relevant but err... it just sprang to mind )

And best of all, a veritable cornucopia of fit buttocks this week, huzzah!

Yes , more and more this season has been Jamies hands down imo - which is nice because theres far 2 too much bad 2 swallow.

Agree about Sno & Ygritte - not that I care much either way ( I find her annoying personally )

G martin wrote that episode i think - which is big let down from his last ( BOB )

Not bad , but it just feels like theres so many loose ends with no climax really waiting to happen.

Unfortunate choice of words there, but I agree ;-) Tyrion has taken rather a back seat and a lot of the other menfolk are rather bland...

I can see how Ygritte could be annoying but I still fancy her

Tyrion you mean? Looks like it's coming to a crisis point amongst the Lannister's of King's Landing

I wonder if The Mountain (or is it his brother) will become more sympathetic now he's captured the little lady? Stranger things have happened in this series...
