    Game of Thrones

I've just finished watching the first two episodes on sky player and I have to say I'm both impressed and hooked already. It was a bit of a slow start, but the story seems to be quite complex and I guess they're setting it up. I have to admit I haven't read the books, so I can't comment on how well it's being translated to film.

There are already characters I hate and some that I like, and I'm enjoying the story so far, can't wait for the next episode. I have to admit though, I wasn't quite expecting the graphic nature of it in both language, violence and sex, but having said that, it all works with the story and it doesn't seem gratuitous.

Is anyone else watching it? If not, if anyone is looking for something to watch, then I can highly recommend this based on what i've see so far!

    Re: Game of Thrones

I haven't read the books either but I'm finding this to be an enjoyable show which is to be expected of a HBO series I guess.

So far I prefer this over the new Camelot series, maybe because the Arthurian legend has already been done to death through movies and tv as this is refreshing in comparison.

Can't help but think as per usual with a lot of HBO shows there is forced nudity, would be nice to see them let a show stand on its own merits

    Re: Game of Thrones

    Read the books.

Quite simply, they are the best political fantasy novels I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and in my opinion, are second only to Robin Hobb in terms of writing style or characters and their development.

The series is so far fairly close to the books, slow moving at first, lets see how it progresses.

btw, love it so far, The Wall is awesome, Winterfell is as close as dammit to my imagination and Joffreys casting is inspired. Lets hope it lives up to the hype in my head

    Re: Game of Thrones

I can't comment on the nudity and whether it's as evident in the books, but to my mind the nudity isn't any more graphic than the language or the violence in the series so far.

    Re: Game of Thrones

It's not bad and having just finished the prequel to Spartacus, the nudity isn't even noticed tbqh.

Slow though, could have stood doing a double first episode, they felt like they were a slow pilot designed to be watched as a double.

    Re: Game of Thrones

Wish I had sky. The books are amongst, if not at the top of, my most highly rated. They are very dark and graphic though, so I don't think HBO would have had to add anything.

    Re: Game of Thrones

oh yes its very good. Most of the casting is spot on really - i like the way the people from the north are all english souding and the lannister are either european or american sounding dunno if its a nice little touch or a twist of fate but either way it works. Peter Dinklage is ace as Tyrion

The books are amazing so this has a hard act to follow but its doing a decent job of it and anyone who hasnt got into it yet stick with it - the fireworks cant be too far off

    Permanently confused

I'm watching it on sky player £15 per month and can watch anything at the same time it's showing on sky or I can watch at a later time if I like. I'll only be getting value for money if i find something else I want to watch on sky though.

Edit: It's not me adding the links to sky player (I'm guessing one's just appeared to the left) I guess it's some kind of automagical advertising.
