    Apocalypse Now - At Last

    They've finally done it !!!

Apocalypse Now has been done as Blu-Ray !

One of the most landmark films of all time, arguably the best Vietnam film ever made, possibly the best war film ever made, and the film responsible for creating 5.1 surround sound as we know it.

It's released mid-June with a collectors edition with 3 discs (Apocalypse Now, Redux, Hearts of Darkness: A film maker's Apocalypse, and a full Blu-Ray of extras)

Check out the review here... Blu-Ray Review

Plus some cinemas will be showing the theatrical version at the end of this month to celebrate, check here for list of cinemas.

Lowe and I were discussing this recently...

I think it's set to become a top tier visual and audio benchmark BluRay

Re: Apocalypse Now - At Last

I've had it for a while (US import). Cost a fortune, but I was doing a university project on it. It's frankly stunning and other than the special effects giving away its age, you'd never guess it's 30 years old. The transfer has been carried out with nothing other than the finest attention to detail, it really is reference material, and frankly the benchmark against which audio production especially has been based upon ever since really.

/edit - the extras are amazing as well, showing you lots about the making of the film.

Re: Apocalypse Now - At Last

thought they released it last year, at least

has always been one of my favourites. Like the original better than Redux, except for final bit with Kurtz. Often thought about re-editing it to include what I like. Redux definitely has less tension in trip up river - too much tangential stuff, eg the French plantation. The tiger encounter also is made useless in Redux by showing it before the tension has built, whereas the original is lean and focused, and tiger bit hits one for six.

    Not my 2c - I'm just right.

One can never stop saying Thank You
