Enhanced CD
I bought an 'Enhanced CD' recently. I don't know if it's protected in some way but I can't play it. I have found a program called start.exe on the disk. Running this opens Windows Media Player which then plays the last album I opened in my library.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? Am I missing something obvious? I thought music CDs were just that. I wanted a disk to play in my car and I think they sound better than mp3s.
If it's a form of copy protection I might as well just download the music I want.

Re: Enhanced CD
Yeah, I have had exactly this problem before with a CD. Only one, mind.
I gave up in the end, couldn't do anything with it. Thankfully it was only a single, and an artist that I'll support until the bitter end, so I let it go.

Re: Enhanced CD
It's not a protection thing as far as I'm aware - the enhanced CDs I have are supposed to have various videos, band member Bios, pictures etc all accessible from the disk. It'll be burned as a mixed mode disk allowing (in theory) regular music playback in a CD player and "enchanced" features access through a PC or Mac.
What are you trying to play it in - your in car CD player?

Re: Enhanced CD
Hi.
I've tried all 3 of my PCs, a CD player, and yes, my car stereo. On the computers, there is a program, Start.exe, which when run offers options to download additional content or to play the disk. If I select play, Media Player opens but there's nothing to play. There is a 'Data' folder on the disk but nothing else. I just get an error on the CD players.
I think the disk is probably faulty.

Re: Enhanced CD
I had no luck with any of the disk tools I have. There's nothing approaching a music track on the disk; just a number of large text files, with the extension .dat, containing garbage. I have returned it.
Thanks for the input.
