Thumbs up The great HEXUS Bookswap

    Folks,

If you'd like to join in please let me know of any books you've got that you don't mind sending off to others for them to enjoy (or not )

    - If you see a book you'd like just post in this thread then PM the person sending the book your address.

    - Once you've finished post again & I'll add it back to the list, someone then may contact you to send on.

    Thats it, easy peasy!

    NB/
HEXUS is not responsbile for anything to do with this.
You may get your books back, you may not (realistically you won't). It may come back well used. If you want it back in good condition then I'd suggest you don't offer it.
This is all based on trust of other users so be aware of what that may mean. If you can't work that out then I'd suggest you don't do this.
One book at a time per user to avoid delays/hoarders.
If the book is going to be sitting unread for weeks on end then either don't request it or list it back asap.

    The List

Suckers: How Alternative Medicine Makes Fools of Us All Donated by Rob_B
Made in America - Bill Bryson Donated by Rob_B
Why can't elephants jump? - NewScientist Donated by Rob_B

John Connelly - The Book of Lost Things Donated by Lucio
Various - Mindblowing Sci-Fi Donated by Lucio

Re: AnotherHEXUS Bookswap - Anyone interested?

I'd suggest a (decent) bestseller from a few years ago - you can pick them up for £0.01+shipping on Amazon so you could get four copies for just over a tenner.

    As for what.. no idea!

Something well worth reading is Bioshock Rapture, you can get it for a fiver new from Amazon. It tells the story before the events in the first game, how the city was built etc

Bought it a few weeks back and have been gradually getting through it when I have had the time to read, very interesting enjoyable book. If you like the games then it is well worth reading for the origin of it all.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rapture-Bios...4116868&sr=8-1 - Rapture

Just noticed that it is also on 2 for £8 making it an even better deal if you can find something else you fancied.

I really enjoyed the Goldacre book, and will happily take part in another swap if there's sufficient interest.

EDIT: I need to check if I order the £8 deal if they can be delivered to different addresses.

    Nice one,

OK folks, 4 people choose a book from the above link (or a book under £4) and we'll get started.

I'm sorry to dicate rules but no fiction, no 'woo' and no 'Daddy please stop" style books!
I'd like to educate (although Stewart Lee: How I Escaped My Certain Fate gets good reviews!)

I've just got 'Suckers' as well so will read through that & send on when I'm finished to anyone interested.

If anyone else wants to put in similar style books then please let me know & I'll try to keep track of them all

    Rob

    EDIT:

PS 'God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything' is in the "Religion & Spirituality>God" section, hehe!

I'm interested in reading anything and everything, how do I get involved in this? Got a small collection of books that I'd be happy to post off to a random Hexite...

    One's I'd consider sharing atm

    Anthony Storr - Solitude (non-fiction)
Gwyneth Lewis - Sunbahting in the Rain (non-ficiton)
John Connelly - The Book of Lost Things
    Various - Mindblowing Sci-Fi
Simon Pegg - Nerd Do Well
Ian McEwan - Solar (bought because there was a really pretty woman working in Waterstones that day!)

I can confirm that it's awesome, but I bought it for Kindle so I can't send it on.

Can you define "woo" and "daddy please stop" though? Really not sure what that rules out.

Re: AnotherHEXUS Bookswap - Anyone interested?

Quick look at those available - I'll show my ignorance as to how this would work by the following post:

I'd like to have a read of any of the following

Operation Mincemeat: The True Spy Story That Changed the Course of World War II

Tommy's Ark: Soldiers and Their Animals in the Great War

The Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club

Pavlov's Dogs and Schrödinger's Cat: scenes from the living laboratory (Popular Science)

For Richer, For Poorer: Confessions of a Player

I'll happily buy whatever to send on, but I can heartily recommend the Charlie Brooker books (mine are a little too well thumbed to share now ) as well as the Stew Lee book.

Seems like my choices are safe then, where do we go from here?

EDIT - ok, will have a look at what paper books I have left after the post-Kindle clearout - will list tomorrow eve as I'm pretty tired right now. How did you find the Timewaster Letters and Polar Bears? I found them both to be excellent toilet books

Not sure where we are with this, but I'm halfway through this and will happily send out a few copies in the interest of getting this moving (reading it on my Kindle, so don't have a physical copy I can send immediately but I'm happy to spend a few quid to get some copies sent out to share around)
