Anything by Kurt Vonnegut.
Island in the Sea of Time by SM Stirling. Sort of time travelly-alternate history type thing. First of a series.
I`ve just finished Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and loved it :D
I'd read the comic series first and thought it was amazing so Bought the book and loved it just as much. Got that sad feeling at the end when you leave characters you really started to love hearing about. He has talked about maybe doing a second book in the same kind of world so we can hope :D
Tyler Hamilton the secret race. A must for any cycling fan a real eye opener. Very honest and candid and contrary to what lance Armstrong says it's not an Armstrong basher book.
Gang leader for a day - Sudhir Venkatesh
The gun seller hugh laurie
great action comedy
Blindsight by Peter Watts.
Excellent first contact sci-fi, although not the most cheerful of resolutions.
Currently working my way through his earlier Rifters books.
Blood Song, Anthony Ryan. Its well written, has good pace and is the start of what looks to be a very interesting series. Some characters are a little 2 dimensional, but not every writer is George Martin or Robin Hobb.
Roots. Someone recommended it to me, once I started I couldn't stop. All things slavery put aside, the storyline is genuinely amazing as it spans one generation to another. Makes you reflect on time/ life/ human nature.
1984, George Orwell - its coming true!
Midnight's Children - Salman Rushdie
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel García Márquez
just started reading the first Ender's game book... those damn buggers!
Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
