Another quirky writer, very droll irish humour, incredibly dark at times, extremely light hearted at others. I love his characters, all inherently flawed, all after something or trying to get away from something.
Some folks might be familiar with the TV series Murphy's Law (not seen it myself) with James Nesbitt. Thats some of his work right there, books are excellent reading. His Mystery Man novels are a eclectic mixture of Sherlock Holmes, Tin Tin and Hypochondiasis for Dummies. The one Dan Starkey novel I have read is a bitter tale of lost love, alcoholism, personal injury and really really bad timing. Orpheus Rising hides its true story till close to the end of the tale and is quite a strange read, thoroughly enjoyable though.
Also fouind under Colin Bateman, seems most of his books are being republished or kindled in the near future, so can get earlier prints dirt cheap on Amazon.
PS: if you like Brookmyre, worth a shot.
