Fancy having them retracked through an SSL for some analogue goodness? I can check and master your mixes on PMC IB1S-Aii too

Sounds cool, I've got very limited resources when it comes to mastering. I only really use plug-ins.
If you could let me know whats required. Really appreciate it

    Re: Breaks 'N' Dubstep

Depends how far you'd want to go with it I guess. At the very least go for a basic two channel mixdown, pre master. No compression on the mixdown and give me sufficient headroom to work with the track when going between different bits of kit. I'll run it through some choice bits of kit, then check the mix on the biiiiig PMCs.

It's worth it for a giggle no? See if you can hear a difference

    I can make time

Pick a track, then export it out as I said above - say a 24 bit, 48khz wav. Send me a link to said file and I'll work some magic

    Re: Breaks 'N' Dubstep

    Lowe, you are the best!

Using your knowledge and equipment you've really sorted out the quality of the track, I've had a listen in my car and it sounds crisp. I'm actually able to turn the bass right up.
This has given me the confidence to actually send the track off as a demo without mentioning that the masters not finished and I've run it through a few plug-ins...

Really appreciate this mate. I'm going to replace the track on Soundcloud with this track.

By the way what's your musical taste?

    Re: Breaks 'N' Dubstep

Glad you liked it. When you've got access to serious kit it can make a huge difference to something that's only had 'in the box' processing. I took a pic of your track running through the SSL funnily enough, thought you might like to see it hah.

    My tastes are somewhat varied.

I'm a huge (and I mean huge) synth head. So, anything remotely electronic and I'm there. 'Band' type stuff - I'm not so into but for work do a whole lot of this kind of thing.

My other musical passion is film score and film sound design. I've got a soft spot for an orchestra thats been recorded properly in 5.1.

Any chance we could have a link to the "Pre-Lowe version" and the "Post-Lowe version"?

I'd just like to hear what kind of difference having proper expensive equipment can make..

    Re: Breaks 'N' Dubstep

That request isn't my call - the track isn't mine to distribute.

Also the premaster is 6dBFS quieter at least compared to the final result. As such it's difficult to hear the difference without your ear honing in purely on the level difference.

As well as running it through nice kit there were a few minor EQ tweaks to straighten the track up a little. I tend to work by cutting or lowering frequencies rather than boosting, I find it's a cleaner way of working whih is important when finalising a project.

The real key part though is the monitors used when making these adjustments. I'm extremely lucky to have access to various types, but the big PMCs are like audio microscopes. You can hear things in a mix that would go unnoticed on most other speakers. That's the killer difference, if you don't hear a problem then how can you do something about it? I'm a huge fan of their monitors - and I've never met a single person who's heard them and not walked away being impressed. Says it all

    No worries

http://www.sendspace.com/file/2obdlo That's for my pre master

http://www.sendspace.com/file/avkmu2 That's for the AJL mastered version

These are a couple of snippets from the track, that's if you don't mind downloading them rather than streaming.
You can tell the difference and watch out for that bass...it's a bit naughty

Fair play to Lowe, He's done a proper good job.

    Appreciate it.

All I can say is: WOW!

    What a bloody difference!

Even with "standard" headphones, there's a massive difference, it feels like there's a lot more going on, giving it a much deeper feel.

Very nice work Lowe, I think he owes you a pint or two

Yeah we got arrangements going on, I'd be silly to miss an opportunity like this.

Normally I would run the track through an Ozone plug-in which mastered the track pretty well but you can tell the difference between the plug-in and the real thing. This pre mastered is leveled so there's no clipping to give Lowe the space he needs.

    Definitely a positive difference.
