Never been a fan of dedicated cover bands but this is a really good cover:
Roll Up by Walk Off The Earth
Mainly cos I can't believe how they managed to rescue such an atrocious original song.

I really love Oasis - Heros
All of Led Zep's first album for a start...
José González - Teardrop (Massive Attack)
Rodrigo Y Gabriela - Orion (Metallica)
Machine Head - Hallowed Be Thy Name (Iron Maiden)
Oh, and this, just in case you ever have to run up steps anywhere ;)
The only one I ever really liked was Jealous Guy by Bryan Ferry
Faith No More's version of Black Sabbath's War Pigs
Metallica's cover of Queen's Stone Cold Crazy
I love Johnny Cash's version of Hurt (mentioned previously) but he also did a brilliant reworking of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage too. (Original here to compare and contrast for the uninitiated!) :)
:rockon::rockon::rockon:
FNMs cover is one of my all time favorites too- his ( pattons ) voice is incredible
heres another i like :)
hadn't heard that before :)
SR-71 - In Your Eyes
I don't know who sang the original, but I absolutely love this song!
@Terbinator: That Take Care cover is absolutely fantastic! Couldn't resist posting that on my Facebook.
im not a fan of the Hurt cover - its good - but Im little resentful about the fact its been used as the posterboy for cover songs - which I think cheapens its original appeal .
Legend has it Trent has another song so " dangerous " he didnt include it in the TDS - urban myth or real -dont know , peronsally I find most music for me now to be just regurgitated boring BEEP , i think the last original group I really liked was TV on Radio and the Knife , with the odd song here and there but nothing consistent enough to make me a fan like Depech Mode once did.
NIN was very much a revelation for me at the time ( although i admit ) they stole their fair share from Skinny Puppy ( another pioneer ) and even Bowie too- I doubt I will ever hear anything that comes as close to exciting me that way again. :(
The missing element for me between the last great generation of groups in the post grunge of the 90s like Smashing Pumpkins etc is sincerity - their songs mean something because they created them to say something or purge themselves - like great artist do , there is no more sincerity in music these days , its just cheap disposable rubbish like some hooker trying to catch u eye.
Having gaga sing hurt would be a joke , but it works with Cash because he was old skool and meant it ( after all he was dying ) hence why the song came over so strongly - not his voice , or looks but his " intent " as don juan would say ;)
RIP NIN & Johnny

Another vote for this.
Also Lali Puna's version of together in electric dreams
And anything by Yo La Tengo's cover band alter ego who's name can't be posted here without attempting to circumvent the filters...
They did some funny spoofs of Nintendo games and Britney too
Woops actually that was Mr Bungle.
