    Thumbs up 2012 Music

I just found out Keane revealed their first single Silenced By The Night from their new album. I for one cannot wait to get my hands on this and the few tracks that I've heard I have all loved (initially, which is rare for me, and more and more with each listen!). I am absolutely loving Sovereign Light Cafe. The album is coming out in May which cannot come soon enough!

It's probably a bit late but what new music is everyone looking forward to this year? (summer!)

(P.S. I got so excited about this I had to post a new thread!)

Feeder's new album is out fairly soon, that's the only thing I'm aware of coming out this year that I'm really interested in getting hold of. Mind you, that's more by default than a fascination with any particular tracks - if anything I'm trying to steer clear until the album appears.

There are other bits I'll get, certainly, but I'm in no rush. Keane, for example - I only got Night Train a couple of weeks ago and haven't listened to a single track yet.

I enjoyed Pushing the Senses and Silent Cry so I think I'll give this new Feeder album a go too. I got recommended Port of Morrow by The Shins which was released recently and it has been very good. I missed the whole Shins bandwagon a few years ago so I've got some catching up to do!

btw I thought Night Train was a decent album but nothing really compares to their first album, which, from what I've heard, the new Keane album is going to have a similar sound to. But I am a sucker for a catchy piano melody, a nice vocal range, some uncomplicated drumming and a bit of a bass or synth bassline.

    Re: 2012 Music

Not had much of a chance to listen to much music so far this year, busy busy busy, but I picked up Ministry's latest album, Relapse, earlier this week. Really enjoyed that one. Classic Ministry, grinding aggressive riffs without descending into just noise, keeping that Ministry clarity and edge to the guitars and drums. Ghouldiggers and double tap I really enjoyed, the S.O.D cover was pretty good too. I was going to link a couple from youtube but the only track the seems to be up there atm, is about the worst on the album 99%'ers. Undecided on the title track, I find something about it tedious, can't put my finger on it.

Agreed. I've been fairly disappointed by them since the first album - I enjoyed Perfect Symmetry but it was a very different vibe to the simplicity of Hope and Fears.

Yeah I enjoyed Perfect Symmetry too, in fact I liked all of their albums but the first one just felt really special (I hope it really is better and not just my nostalgia talking!). Btw My Shadow on Night Train is a brilliant song and I really like Clear Skies too. The other songs are good and very listenable but not nearly as repeatable, that's usually my guideline for what a great song is: if I don't get sick of it after years of listening it's probably a good song!

    Re: 2012 Music

New Kanye West album scheduled for this summer called G.O.O.D. featuring Way Too Cold (originally called Theraflu) and Mercy. I have to say Kanye's recent stuff has been really disappointing compared to his early stuff. Watch The Throne can just about be considered decent but I'm really not liking these 2 new songs. I'm looking forward to hearing more stuff from it though, hopefully there's some good stuff there.

Daft Punk is also rumoured to be releasing a new album later this year or next
