Re: The Cinematic Orchestra
Brought the album a few weeks back due to the same reason :)
Cracking album, some great chillout tracks.
Re: The Cinematic Orchestra
Have you found anything similar to this?
Anyone else?
I am really enjoying it! Transformation is a powerful song.

I dont listen to it much myself so couldnt really say much, the closest I get is more tribal or minimal , there aint much in between with me , relatively speaking...

You might like some of the more ethnic stuff too , its hard 2 say - sometimes certain groups get painted as being more 1 dimensional than they are through sterotypes.
Heres just some stuff i like.

Finally door 4

Re: The Cinematic Orchestra
Ahhh... Cinematic Orchestra.. you want the later stuff, not their early Jazz stuff, you want Ma Fleur - classic album and an amazing guest vocal from Lou Rhodes on the last track ... sheer bliss...
Music I tend to listen to when i'm in a Cinematic Orchestra mood are...
Lunz - amazing chillout album
Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People
Godspeed You Black Emperor - East Hastings is the track from 28 days later when he wakes up to a deserted London
Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs
;)

There's more mainstream stuff, like
Ludivicio Einaudi - done to death thanks to Top Gear
Tim Story - one half of Lunz (the more electronic half) has done a few albums
Craig Armstrong - genius but again done to death
Sigur Rós
but i'm sure you knew all those anyway...
But that's getting all a bit ambient and sleep inducing, couple of wild cards...
Ohbijou
Archive - as they were 10 years ago - as they are now two very different bands :)
Re: The Cinematic Orchestra
I love 'All Things to All Men' by Cinematic Orchestra - beautiful tune

Re: The Cinematic Orchestra
Interesting thread. One I can add is Mike Oldfiields take on the Arthur C Clark book songs of Distant Earth.
