3 levels of things to discuss in this one
Level One... funny from the very moment it begins. Really funny in places, never let me down, hurt my sides twice
Level Two... serious side... very serious.. and I was compelled to watch it to see how it ended AND it's instantly rewatchable
Level Three... lovely lovely film to watch.. the scenes.. the camera work... and the production values. Class .. top class.
so.. in short... at least 8/10... possibly 9/10.
How good is it really? I rented it on Love Film.. and have just bought it formy shelf. It's not even expensive....
So good.. it's worth saying again.
In Bruge... it's in Belgium
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
/sub note:
if you don't like swearing... or the odd bit of bloody.. don't watch it.
if you feel really sorry for midgets.. don't watch it.
if you die laughing... don't blame me.
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
Totally agree, I enjoyed this when I watched it a while back.
Additionally, made me actually want to go and have a look round Bruge as it looked pretty cool in the film.
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
I thought it was OK, well good really, but it took me a while to get into it as it wasn't the film I thought it would be from the trailers.
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
I had no interest in seeing it, thought it looked nonsense, but then got a loan of it from a friend at work. Watched it, loved it, watched it a few days later, then bought the Blu-ray.
Zak has summed it up pretty well, if you've not seen it & it sounds like your cup of tea, then get hold of it.
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
i watched this twice and never liked it. dunno why. it's normally the type of thing i would like, but i just didn't get it. it is in my pile to watch again so i'll give it another try and see if i get it this time
generally i see most people rave about it though
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
Wife and I watched it and we both loved it. Its funny, dark, but wordy, almost like it was meant to be a play. The characters are great, and I really enjoyed it :) Might have to try and watch it again

Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
I watched it with the wife, went to Bruges, and couldn't remember where everything was in the film, so watched it again when we got home.
Bruges is a truly lovely town, well worth a visit, probably even better than it looks in the film, but watch the film before you go. And after.
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
Yes, I too like this movie. It's been a while since I last saw it...
I remember seeing the making of it ages ago and then watching it with MrsBozack. This movie reminds me of how beast Belgium is. I've never been to Bruge, but I know Oostende very well.
8/10

I hated this movie. I just can't tolerate Northern accents. Gets on my nerves.

Western... western. They're Irish mate. Unless you're from Cork.. they're not Northern ;)
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
Maybe he meant northern Belgian?
Re: In Bruge ( It's in Belgium )
Watched this a couple of weeks ago based on this thread.
Not what I was expecting at all, this thread made me think it was a out and out comedy :P
Enjoyed it though, had a good mix of the serious and funny stuff, nice pace, especially for the location :P
And I thought the music for the final scene(s) was just fantastic, so fitting, brilliant stuff.

George.. I didn't want to tel you the strong/deep parts.... and they are deep too. It's why I rate it so highly.
glad you enjoyed it.. and you're right... superb final scene and music so well chosen.
