Real Steel: Shawn Levy (Dir) Hugh Jackman

Right... god help me explaining why I loved this film so much ,... but you're gonna have to trust me.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433035/

There isn't really any spoilers in this post.... so don't fret. Knowing the story... will simply help you decide to rent it

In the near future (so you recognise life and roads, driving etc.. it's not in space) regular boxing has got boring.. and dudes started making Robots to fight in touraments. Big ass robots.. and some fights are televised uber jobs.. and others are underground. off the record- scraps.

Hugh Jackman, ex boxer himself, gambler and outright dude with no dough..... has a robot, bluffs his way into fights.. and frankly... he sucks. He's good ... but lasses with big pair's of.. eyelashes... put him off and he loses. He even fights a cow he's so down on his luck. A cow.

When you lose in Robot combat, they get decimated... proper destroyed. You lose all your dough... your bet.. and your robot is junk.

Story unfolds... he has a son... who he doesn't see.. who shows up.... reasons in film.. and he like robot war tv.. just like you would if you were 11. .. or me.. who's 41.

Annny way... Hugh Jackman gets another robot... needs to win with it, to pay off debt... guess what?

    Yup...

Now it gets good. Kids want's to help... gets himself old old robot... heavy, not big hitter, old tech.. but built like a "brick outhouse" mechanically... and want's to fight. His dad says no.. blah blah...kids gets his own way. Win's first fight.

So: there you have the story. It's a bit Rocky, and bit Terminator 2 with strong willed kid.

BUT MAN IT LOOKS GREAT. And sounds great. AND IS GREAT.

In High Def on PS3 on a Projector, is scooped me in. I loved it.

I rented it, on Blue Ray.. and it's on order to own now. Worth the shelf space AND will be in the PS3 again soon.

    DO IT..... rent it

Re: Real Steel: Shawn Levy (Dir) Hugh Jackman

Watched about half on a flight recently. Nothing about it made me want to finish watching it enough to rent it.

I'll finish watching it on TV when it comes out.....the whole story was 'Over the Top' with robots - didn't think that Hugh Jackman slightly believable though.

This was a random watch and i was pleasantly surprised
    - of course you kind of know what your getting before you watch this film, I thought it would be far cheesy and annoying but it turned out rather enjoyable with just the right level of cheese
