Why IS the Hobbit going to be three films? Your input:

I'm going to ask only one thing.... we need to try to trust mr Jackson on this.. and assume it's NOT just money.

Why would The Hobbit... be in THREE PARTS?


it will mean I will be 2 1/2 years older than I am now before I see the last bit

So... is it because it's 3d and it needs to be on 3 Blueray discs to sell in 3D? Is it because he wished that LOTR was over 4 or 5 films.... but couldn't do it because the book format wouldn't permit it? Facing facts.. the extended 4 disk box sets of all 3 LOTR are WELL WORTH the extra viewing time.. and it is quite a LOT more viewing time... maybe too much for cinema showings, so maybe he has SO MUCH Hobbit matrial it won't all fit into 2?

And allowing a tiny amount of fiscal debate.. has he over-spent? Does he need 3 incomes to actually come out ahead?

I like as many films as possible with these sort of films, I just wish they weren't a year apart as they're mostly filmed before then so just release the damn things!

On one hand its absurd to make three films. The book was tiny compared to LOTR. From that point of view it's clearly just to make money.

On the other hand if anyone has earned the right to make as many films as they want in this series it's Jackson.

word for word from the book ? Hmmmmmm, 2 maybe, but surely 3 is OTT.... Time will tell, innit.

I think the main hope here is that it will be far closer to the books that LOTR was able to be. It was a great transition to film, but many bits and pieces were cut out to make it fit. Whole characters dropped. Had Jackson wanted to do full detail LOTR could have gone for 6 or more films.

So hopefully The Hobbit will be that much more detailed.

I truly hate it when they drag the storyline out, ask more questions then answer then make you wait & pay just to see the next bit of the elongated story.

The ending has already been spoilt too!!:p
