I jumped into the Extended version and did not watch the Main film as it was a rental, I didn't really want to watch it twice in such a short space of time.
However, the Audio issues were frequent enough that I couldn't see it being just in the Extended version, unless the Extended version is also considered a directors cut where scenes are moved around a bit as well.

Imho the issues shouldn't have existed at all regardless of Extended or not, it gave it an amateurish feel.

Super 8 here. Pretty good, much better than I expected. Must say valve did a good job with the train wreck scene they replicated a few years back.

Rampart - frustrating to see so many great actors giving really strong performances, but totally let down by the complete lack of story.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?

Watched Captain Phillips last night. I thought it was superb, Tom Hanks was great, especially in the final scene which was incredibly powerful.

I think the Somalian actors almost stole the show though - apparently they were immigrants living in Minneapolis who were invited to audition, and ended up with starring roles.

I felt quite drained at the end as it's very intense, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

To be honest I was seriously worried when I heard that it was being made as there are large parts of this film that could not possibly be portrayed on the large screen, and this left huge sections disjointed with simply not enough explanation, It needed to be longer, and paced faster. There are a multitude of continuity errors and the revised ending for me fell flat. It's not terrible, it's just not good and all too distinctly Meh!
Isn't that usual if you read the book first though? Ender's Game is my wife's favourite book, we won't be seeing the movie.

Harry Potter survived the conversion to film well, possibly because as a book it wasn't that complex

But things like Golden Compass... bleargh. As an Asimov fan I think someone should be shot for I Robot. I am Legend made zero sense to me as well, until my wife told me the plot in the book. They should make a film about that, the Will Smith one seems to be a completely different story with no discernible point!

Took the kids to see Cloudy with Meatballs 2. Was all right, came away mildly entertained. Perhaps some 3D gimmicks would have helped it, I saw it in 2D.

That recently released to DVD flick 'Hummingbird' or 'Redemption' as its known in the US with Jason Statham was actually not as bad as i expected it to be. Still can't really argue it was that brilliant either

    Fantastic film

    Man of Steel
Never been a big superman/superhero in general fan, but I watched Smallville last year so wanted to watch this at some point.

I enjoyed it, although it was weird seeing different actors playing the characters I knew (and the different storyline etc)
Lots of ridiculous action, I'd recommend it

I haven't seen this yet, but I heard in an interview that the Somalian actors were kept away from the rest of the cast until they were actually filming - so when they first meet in the film (won't say how, but you can probably guess) - it's actually the first time they've met at all. So the expressions and reactions are more genuine.

    Pretty clever.
