Your most recently watched movie/film?
Could be any film you watched recently from TV or the Cinema..add a little rating and a quick comment too..might help someone choose to watch it or not :)
I'll start..
The Perfect Host (DVD)
8/10
Unusual and amusing film. Niles 'David Hyde Pierce' Crane was splendidly cast. Recommended.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Saw the new Snow White movie because a distant relative is in it
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1735898/
It's quite fun, a bit darker than usual and more for tweens. 7/10
-
Just about to watch Police Academy 1 in HD.
#classic

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Outside the Law: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1229381/
Quite a good film about the Algerian issue after the 2nd World War, leading up to independence. It's got that bloke out of Angel-A in it, which I would very much recommend: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473753/

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Batman: The Dark Knight - me and Donna watched it the other night, normally when we put on DVD we get half way through then get busy something else, however this one held our attention for the full 3 hours, very good acting, can't remember the name of the chap who played the joker but he did a bang up job of playing the joker.
Very dark in places, and very apparant at the end why Batman was the hero, but not the hero thst Gotham city needed that day, looking forward to seeing the next one when it comes out on DVD :)

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Finally got round to watching Requiem for a Dream last night... 9/10
I like Aronofsky anyway but the film shows the progress of the three main characters from their starting point to such a climax it feels almost exhausting (in a good way) - and no one else could pull off the fridge scene without people laughing. Not for the faint hearted - it's pretty full-on and cuts no punches in depicting drug abuse and the effect it can have. The 9/10 is also due to the fantastic score with people like Clint Mansell and Ken Ishi working on the sound it would always be three steps above good, but it is also an example of how a 5.1 mix should be done. None of this making a full stereo mix and then just bleeding it into the rear with the occasional SFX pan, it felt like a true 5.1 mix - so rare even in big budget movies.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Just finished watching The Hunt for Red October. My favourite go to film for general purpose entertainment
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Bernie 9/10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1704573/
Not a fan of Jack Black as an actor, seen several of his film roles before, but this is by far his best performance in any film, he is brilliant, and the almost silent role played by Shirliy MacLaine is pretty impressive! It's sort of a Docu-Film based on a true story and uses some real interviews by the town locals, its a great comedy, not a laugh out loud funny comedy, more of comedy that keeps you laughing all the way through...thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched the Conan reboot on Netflix last night. Absolutely awful. Makes the Arnie films Shakepearean by comparison.

I love this film, never seen with 5.1 speakers though. I feel like I have let down Clint Mansell now

Waiting for Guffman...
Not bad but bit too linear for my liking.
Mermaids: The Body FoundThe Discovey Documentray via utube
Not as good as the one they did on dragons , but still fun.
Just started watching this.. so far so good.

The only highlight for me in that film was Rosie McGowans hairddo..

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
The Tall Man, with Jessica Biel.
Total waste of time I think... supposed to be a nice thriller, but was very shallow, linear and basically didn't bring anything new.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull last night..
It was okay but lacking a certain something. 6/10

The Raid was pretty good, battleship was abysmal though, like watching transformers without any transforming.
Watched Gone last night, I'd give it 5 out of 10.

Your most recently watched movie/film?
The wife and I are firm believers in watching a franchise from start to end.
We watched police academy 2 last night. Hopefully part 3 tonight.
The oldies are the best.
EDIT - oh and I watched The devil inside at work today on my work PC while I made up 4 way extensions. It was pants.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
I watched Volcano yesterday, for about 5th time I think.
Good movie, they don't make good catastrophic movies any more...

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Cabin In The Woods
Awesome. Easy 9/10 territory and probably not quite what you expect! :)
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Battleship last night, have Cabin In The Woods lined up for tonight.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
the cabin in the woods
7/10 - interesting attempt but very predictable. not exactly scary either.

I was going to watch this one.
I watched Silent house, which was good, I liked the way it was filmed - camera going with the character most of the time, etc.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
I just watched the latest Bourne movie. Imho, a movie without Jason Bourne isn't really a Bourne movie.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched 'The Lathe Of Heaven' (1980) last night at my friend's house.
What an odd movie ..a little dated but a great story. Really enjoyed something a bit different.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081036/
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp as the vampire. Typical Tim Burton setting that you see in most his movies which is kind of Noir / Gothic feel to it.
Me and my wife really enjoyed it and has some great laugh out loud moments, story is also pretty good and its not a case of Twilight style vampires, he actually burns in sunlight!
Well worth watching 8/10
Also watched The Hunger Games a few nights ago which my wife liked but I thought was average at best.
Basically its is a cross between Battle Royale and The Running Man, both films that I love so my attitude was seen it before. Thing is though I think it could have been a lot better but there was so much wasted potential and I don't think they should have pushed for a 12 certificate.
Overall I would give it a 6/10

I agree with the score but disagree that it was a good idea. The last third of the film is just a stupid idea. I hated it myself.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
I went to see Lawless yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Killing Them Softly and Skyfall are on the list to watch next along with Looper and, forgive me, probably Taken 2 as well. :D

I can deal with some rubbish sometimes ( depending on other factors ) but I found nothing redeeming in this.
Theres fine line between art and just trash , and sometimes I like having one leg in both.
Heres something in that range ( i hope ) I plan on watching next.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
It's all gone Pete Tong (2004) - was a bit daft in places but all in all not a bad comedy.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
I watched Piranha on Saturday night. I wasn't expecting much but it's a damn good fun film! It totally takes the pee out of Jaws. It's a bit gory but in a comic book icky yuck way. Quite funny in places! Definitely worth a look see!

I just watched Dredd 3D and all I could say that it's full of awesomeness. =D

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
The Awakening (2011). Scared the bejeebies out of me. Thought it was brilliant 7/10.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched Prometheus again last night, I was hoping it would be better second time round but the the plot holes just seemed bigger and even the stunning vistas coupled with an awesome performance from Fassbender couldn't stop me wishing I was watching Alien instead by the third act :(

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched 'Safe'(2012) last night. Pretty much what you'd expect really for a Jason Statham film. Enjoyably mind-numbing. 5/10

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
I'm halfway through a 6 months Love film subscription (got cheap in Amazons Black Friday sale) so am watching a lot recently, but the last Film I saw was The woman in black. Not bad really

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Just watched Cabin in the Woods, enjoyed it, nice twist on your standard horror film (something I'm not into really)
Saw Safe last week, I knew I was going to like it since I'm a big Statham fan, always find he makes an average action film into something a little better, not sure, just like his style/screen presence.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched Mystic River earlier..was a bit too slow in places but a good story, if a little miserable! Good acting.

I recently watched Houseful 2. Its a Bollywood movie and an awesome comedy movie. It was really fun watching this movie.
I will rate it 9/10..

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
The Dictator - forgot this guy still did stuff was laughing a lot - enjoyable

Big Stan - good comedy, about a guy who is afraid of being raped in prison, so he get prepared to prevent that

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched Ironclad last night..great fun and some good action. Very enjoyable medieval romp...plus the added bonus of Kate Mara.
-
Right now watching The Running Man.
Forgot how awesome this movie is. Arnie is the man.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Yesterday I watched Mad Max, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The first and third are pretty poor, especially as the first feels more like a art film.
The second is actually really enjoyable and I can see how much it has influenced modern media in relation to a post apocalyptic world. Really enjoyed the film, highly recommend even if just for the art direction.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Last film I watched was Prometheus...I was pleasantly surprised by how good a fifth Aliens film was...
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
The last films I watched were (a bunch because they were on a flight):
Dark Shadows: Enjoyable, surprised to see HBC in a Tim Burton film...
The Dictator: Lightweight fun, with some poignant moments
I watched 2 other films as well, but they were forgettable. As in, I forgot what they were.
Edit: Just remembered, they were:
Snow White and The Huntsman - OK but probably not given a fair crack as they started serving food halfway through
American Pie: Reunion - OK, fairly predictable romp.
I'm probably going to have to watch them again, cos the screen quality was shocking.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Im going to chime in with a older film (well ish) pandorum, my rating would be 8/10 why? well because there is plot holes in it which i had to fill in myself
Otherwise though great film actually made me jump a few times to! (late at night lights of sound up XD)
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Saw Dredd at the weekend, was a good film overall, equally as good as the original in my book although good for different reasons. The original obviously was quite cheesy with Stallone in it. But the new one is a bit darker and more serious, lots of great action and effects and a decent storyline.
Also saw Lawless which I wasn't so sure about before I went in, but I was pleasantly surprised with it as the story is really good and different to a lot of films I have seen recently. Definitely worth a watch when its out on DVD if you're not a big cinema buff.
I have a Cineworld unlimited card so I tend to see quite a lot of movies at the cinema :)
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
The Avengers, decent bit of action and good cast.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Recently i have seen a Looper with all mine friends. Its a movie by Rian Johnson. And i think he made a really nice action movie to watch. I enjoyed the movie so much. Its really nice movie and all the characters of the movie have made there part really well. Emily Blunt as sara is mine favorite from the movie.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Giallo - the one with Adrien Brody in it. TOTAL waste of time. I thought it;s going to be decent thriller, but it wasn't :(

Agree with this.
Also, I can't stay I like all of the films he's acted in but he was truly excellent in a number of them.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Finally watched "Martha Marcy May Marlene" at the weekend, very good, about a girl who escapes from a cult/commune she has been living in and struggles to adjust back to real life. It depicts someone losing grip on sanity from their perspective, feeling uncomfortable and confusing in equal measure at times. Some truly outstanding performances from the key cast and awesome cinematography, disturbing at times, but not graphic. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like that kind of film well worth a watch.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched Clash Of The Titans (2010 version) last night..the one from a couple of years back..it was okay..the special effects were pretty good but wasn't keen on the leading actor..very lightweight. 5/10 Average.
-
Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
Watched Prometheus last night, wasn't to bad, liked the whole origin of Alien species. Not the best when it comes to deep Sci Fi but far from the worst I have seen.
Also watched Defiance a few days back. Interesting story about Jewish hiding out in the woods during WW2 to avoid the holocaust. Daniel Craig is a powerhouse in this movie and plays his part exceptionally well.
Watched Burke & Hare again last week after getting the Bluray version, hilarious movie with some great talent from both Simon Pegg & Andy Serkis. Comedy, story, acting and setting are great, this movie keeps you entertained on so many levels.
Going to rewatch Where Eagles Dare myself, lost count the amount of times I have seen it and now my 11yr old son is well into it also. All time favorite war movie, setting alone is astounding. Need to buy it on Bluray one day soon even though it hasn't had anything done to it and is the same as the DVD I have.

Harry Hamlin was bit lackluster, but I always loved this film myself for the rich mythology and animation ( I actually still have the lookin comic of it )
It was also the first film I saw at the cinema I think.
Id personally give it 7.5 - 8.5 ( maybe Im bias ) but its probably my favourite interpretation of greek mythology , with some great performances and scenes.
There is something about stop-motion movement that is so surreal and creepy ,it works far better than any fantasy conjured up by cgi.
The skeletons from Sinbad , Medusa being two examples and far scarier than those 2 terrible attempts , or that Percy Jackson rubbish.

Are you on about the 2010 version or 1981? I haven't seen the older version but if you're talking about the more recent one then I totally agree, I also had the misfortune of seeing it in 3D.

After hearing about people raving over Avatar i thought id give the newer version of COT a spin , boy was I underwhelmed ( both by the 3d & FILM )
agree about Sam Worthington , generic cookie cutter ( look at me Im buffe than tom cruise ) actor hired for his look.
Hollywood forgets you need more than a look to act tough aka Weaver in Aliens or Eastwood.
Bale maybe as close to that hardman persona we will get ( unless you count Strathan who cant really act )
Personally my vote for the best hardman who can act ( very well ) in recent yrs goes to Clive Owen , discounting Arthur thing hes been pretty good in anything Ive seen - esp Children Of God.

TF ( original at the beginning with prime " touch " is my all time favorite movie scene )
Vampire Hunter 1 sucked ,the 2nd IMO was much better.

Street Fighter the ( 1st one is ok ) with some great industrial music / fights - like this..

Luckily it avoided having all the funny bits shown in the trailer too.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?
La Reine Margot, about the Catholic vs Protestant paggas in medieval France. It was quite good, very bloody, and surprisingly little chesticle action, considering it's a French film... Daniel Auteuil was very good in it, as was Isabelle Adjani in the title role...
