Late reply to this thread, but then I am new round here!
I love all the Floyd stuff and would find it difficult to name my one favourite song as different moods require different albums.
As a slight digression, it is a huge personal disappointment to realise that I will never see the whole band play live (too young!) although I did drag the family to see Roger Waters do The Wall last year (8yo daughter loved it). I have also seen the Aussie Floyd play a few times and they always put on a great show. Any other Floyd fans seen the Aussies? What's your opinion of them?

I bought the vinyl of Atom Heart Mother when it first came out. Love that track, also Echoes from Meddle. Not so keen on The Wall, Final Cut or Animals, but the rest are pretty high on my favourites list. As for the early stuff, I find it more "interesting" than musical if you follow me :)
Recently purchased the SACD of DSotM.....the audio quality is superb and the surround mix has been very well thought out....the beginning of Time is astounding.
Me - I saw the first live performance of Atom Heart Mother at the Bath (Shepton Mallet) rock festival 1970
and Pulse DVD on a big 7.1 sound system is great !

If you like the surround mix you may want to do a "search" for DSotM "4.0 mix" or "4.1 mix" on t'interweb...Quote:

My favourite has always been Wish You Were Here. I have it on a 24 carat Mastersound CD from the early 90's - where they got the original engineer to mix it again from the session tapes and produced all the discs from the stage 1 master using 20 bit SuperBitMapping. In other words it's gold and very shiny :)
the quad version of DSOTM was only recently reissued as part of the immersion set, with the 4.0, 5.1 and 2.0 versions of the album all on a single dvd, and again on the bluray, there is also an early mix of the full album that's quite different to the final version, and some other outtakes and a live performance of the album
