    13 Assassins

Back in late 2011, Lowe suggested

that I try watching 13 Assassins.

    And now.. I have.

It's great viewing, and I enjoyed it immensely, but it's not as good as Ip Man, it is a totally different ... "feel"

It IS a great film.. and it has a strong storyline.

    Anyone else seen it?

Loved it, felt like an updated Seven Samurai to me but with much more action.
Seems odd comparing an action packed Japanese drama with a Chinese Wing Chun fighting movie, they don't feel at all similar.

You watched the other 2 Ip Man movies?

Not for me; a huge disappointment.

With Takeshi Miike at the helm I was hoping for something origional and unrestrained instead we got a god damn buffalo.

I don't really watch Kung Fu movies any more but two I enjoyed were Iron Monkey (2001) and The Blade (1995).

    Re: 13 Assassins

I really wanted to see 13A when it was out in the cinema, but missed it. Haven't got round to renting the disk yet either, never seem to be in the mood for it.

I do enjoy a lot of Miike's madcap movies, but I've not seen one for quite some time - Zebraman was maybe the last of his I watched. Oh, I watched a bit of Sukiyako Western Django, but it didn't do anything for me.
