Crossed are good in a kind of twist on the zombie story
Locke and Key has been a really good series by Stephen kings son
Morning glories is a good story as well. Dont be put off by the covers as I was(looks like its going to be preppy school girl crap but is really dark)
Older stuff Invisibles is an amazing story by Grant Morrison(Prolly my fave writer)

Apart from the usual list of Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns and V for Vendetta, I've got a good few to recommend.
Preacher and The Boys - both series by Garth Ennis. Both excellently written and illustrated. Not for the faint hearted or easily offended!
The Walking Dead - get the compendiums which are both absolutely mammoth books that will take you ages to read. Far superior to the TV series.
Judge Dredd: America - 20 years old but still a definitive Dredd graphic novel.
Sandman - the Neil Gaiman books of which there are ten in total. Awesome. I still consider these some of the best written literature ever.
Punisher Max - I'm pretty blasé about US created comic characters but the Punisher Max books are of a very high standard. I think the first few are by Garth Ennis.
Charley's War - I read Charley's War in the Battle comics way back in the early 80s and thought it was boring. As an adult, I can't get enough. Fantastically written and illustrated.
That's about 40 books for you to read so I'll keep schtumm for just now...
An Atlantean Triumvirate, Ghosts of the Past, The Centre Cannot Hold
The Pillars of Britain, Foundations of the Reich, Cracks in the Pillars.
My books are available here for Amazon Kindle. Feedback always welcome!

Fables is really good in terms of fairy tale characters. Nothing quite like having the big bad wolf as the chief of police
I havent seen any of them but I am very interested in the batman coming out soon as its supposed to be based around the frank miller batman

Yes, the batman archetype is very flexible when it comes to changing it to different things.
I was always drawn to him more than any other hero as a kid and when I got older , I do like Sups too though .
It must be hard trying to conceive something original for new comic writers without stealing some aspect from something else.
They have Green Arrow tv series now too I see , it seems to be popular over in the US .

I love Femforce, Vampirella and Spawn comics

Currently engrossed in Saga, new Brian K Vaughan book. Fiona Staples art is gorgeous. Great stuff happening in that book.
In terms of superhero books, it's pretty hard to beat Hawkeye and Daredevil these days. Jaw-dropping art and great fun stories in both.
I don't read that many comics, but these are awesome (in order of awesomeness). I recommend you check them out:
- Locke and Key (best. comic. book. ever.)
- American Vampire (Scott Snyder is an awesome writer)
- Injustice Gods among us
- The Walking Dead
- Kickass (I heard the new v3 isn't as good)
- Chew
