Seen Skyfall last night, got to say I really enjoyed the film and lived up to its name.
Someone makes a surprise appearance
Go and see it!![]()
Who makes a surprise appearance ?
Btw, remove the Boobie signature please.
I'll copy and paste my points from another forum. I thought it was a terrible film, tbh, not even just a bad Bond.
There was no over-arching plot.
The plot, of what there was, was convoluted.
No Bond girl.
No Bond gadgets - again.
They spent plenty of time mocking Bonds' of old, but now i realise that it was just to kill the time and cover up the film's shortcomings.
Location was shocking - but now you realise how Heineken can pay for a third of the production costs with one advert. China one minute, England the next, then Scotland - nil linking between between them beyond "The List". a list of NATO agents, whilst a massive concern, isn't really on par with anything before hand, in fact, it's something i expect from Anonymous.
The acting, although i don't expect much from a Bond film, was terrible and wasn't helped by the stuff up above.
The finale is a shoot-out, a badly done shootout. This has nothing to d with James Bond, it isn't even being out there and breaking from convention aka Casino Royale - it's just bad. I had more enjoyment watching the Die Hard trailer before hand than i did for the half an hour the Skyfall mansion took to unfold. If i want to watch a proper mansion defense job i'll watch Home Alone 2.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

What I dont like about Craig as bond is he not suave - so that kills it for me..
TBH I enjoyed the Bourne films a lot more than any Bond film Ive seen in years.
Roger Moore was the last Bond for me..
m
i went to see it at the weekend and really enjoyed it also.
Not sure i want to see Skyfall but i do agree with Melon, i do enjoy bourne films over Bonds films
Interesting viewpoint! All the people i know who have seen it thought it was ace & I'm with them on that.
I don't think that they'll go back to the old days because of the bourne films - they were huge game changers & highly regarded... and they were much more realistic &had great action sequences =think Bond has emulated/ copied part of that.
Honestly, though I can see what you mean by a couple of your points, but it depends what you're after from a Bond film - as I like Casino Royale & Skyfall I hope the franchise continues in a similar way.
Did you like Quantum of Solace?
I'm with Terbinator, I was massively disappointed with the film.
It was camp, self-referential and completely overblown (even for a Bond film.) For me, Casino Royale started Bond in a grittier, lower tech and nastier direction (think of the fight in the bathroom, filmed in black & white at the beginning) and even the fight on the balcony in Haiti with the hitman in QoS. This, however, was a return to formula (perhaps they did it for money reasons) and I think it's cheapened the entire series. I said to a friend that they could have had Roger Moore in a safari suit in Skyfall and he wouldn't have been out of place.
Another friend likened the preparations for the final scene to Home Alone. I didn't think of that at the time, but he's right!
I didn't like QoS on the first watch at the cinema, it has grown on me with subsequent re-watches, though. I'll probably try Skyfall again at some point but not for a while and I don't think I'll overcome my viewpoint (I haven't with Prometheus, yet!)
What was your view on Prometheus ? I was very disappointed.
For Skyfall -
Effects, Action and similar - A grade
Plot, dialogue and originalty - D grade
CR was a much much better movie.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Casino Royale was ace, Quantum was shallow as anything so I really expect Skyfall to take spot number one or drop to 3rd place.. Seems like options are mixed and as I have't seen it myself can't judge it yet!

I thought Prometheus stank - it looked glorious but it was a collection of plot holes, poorly stitched together and frankly, the entire cast were weak, apart from Fassbender!
I totally agree on your ratings for Skyfall, CR was great but for me, it's been downhill all the way since then...
QoS has grown on me but it's nowhere near as good as CR in my opinion, though it does improve with re-watching, I think... Skyfall for me is a very, very poor third place.. some friends loved it, some shared my thoughts on it but out of my group, I'm the one who seems to have disliked it the most.

For me Skyfall was a very enjoyable film and a good Bond film, but not a great film. I think they played it very safe and they got a good crowd pleasing film. It certainly won't go down in history as one of the best but they've lined their pockets to keep the franchise going, had a few in laughs (who else giggled at the car and the classic theme music?) and made a very watchable film.
Hopefully they'll push the boat out a bit more next time!
Just another action movie tbh. Although one bit really got my goat;
During the inquiry, we know the baddie is coming here, so let's just sit here, not warn anyone and hope bond gets here in time. Despite having lots of other men with guns who could shoot him in the face the second he opened the door, if someone had mentioned he was coming.
I know you can't kill the baddie halfway through and well it's Bond, but seriously Carry on up the Khyber, was the best they could do? Would of been a better ending, if he'd died right there and M delivered Kincaid's "jumped up little..." line to his twitching corpse.
From there it really felt like they were treading water to pad it out.
I liked it overall, there were some niggles here and there but it worked for me.
I can empathise with some of the negative comments though as it is very much a departure from the style established in CR and QoS that came before it. I think it's the right move though, CR and QoS had to go head-to-head with the Bourne movies and did it well, but I loved Bond movies as a kid growing up and they needed to get back to something which will take that place for future generations. There were also significant nods to Bond movies of the past as a celebration of the 50th Anniversary which was good IMO.
The exploration of the characters was good too, delving a bit deeper into the relationships between Agent and controller gave a different perspective than seen before. The locations and Cinematography were excellent, filming that much footage in Central London is no simple task and all credit to them.
But above all for me was Sam Mendes bringing Thomas Newman in as composer, I loved David Arnold's Bond scores, you could tell he was so passionate about it, and was a bit concerned when it emerged he'd been replaced, but the Newman score is outstanding and added a completely new feel to Bond for me.
Looking forward to where they go from here.

If not quite as good as Casino Royale, it was pretty close. I have quite enjoyed the Daniel Craig Bond films. I would hope he sticks around for one more at least. He's given us (well and the writers) a much more Gritty real Bond than gadget mad Brosnan or Mr Cheese with Roger Moore.
