Looks good. I was never into the old tv show or movies but I did enjoy the last film in 2009.

Glad to see the Sherlock actors doing so well. However, they better stick to making more tv shows as well

Re: Star Trek - Into the Darkness

I watched Star Trek's as a kid, but never was a Trekie geek. The reboot was a solid film and one of the best watched in years, and now I am actually excited for the new one.

Can't wait for this, the trailer looks great and has gripped me. I think the cast is spot on really.

Thumbs down Re: Star Trek - Into the Darkness

Am I the only one to hate J.J. "I've never watched Star Trek before but I loved Star Wars" Abrams reboot? I thought it was a travesty tbh (well pretty much all time-travel stories are inherently ludicrous so I feel that the best ones do it comedically as in Bill & Ted, Back to the Future).

The first ST reboot was a po-faced, lens-flared shoot-em up whose whole ethos ran counter to any previous ST ideals...

How about a decent story instead of overwrought crude action, some sort of human interest amongst the overwhelming CGI: maybe Into Darkness will have it but it's doubtful IMO.

Not a fan of the Cumberbatch too.

Not a trekkie (trekker?) either, but even I could see that it was marketed at the ADD teenage crowd

I am a Trekkie and I think it was good. Films need to move with the times James Bond has reinvented itself many times over. J J Abrams is good at what he does because he does what people like.

Can't wait for the next one.

Yeah it's all down to personal preference I guess. Certainly the previous ST films (excepting II) were pretty dreadful for the most part. At least the production values for this one will be top-notch.

No you are not the only one.

I absolutely hate it as a "Star Trek" film - it's just so far removed from Star Trek that it's become something else..a different show entirely. It will appeal to many since they have not grown up with any of the original Star Trek series (TOS/TNG/DS9/Voyager or even enterprise) which all largely remained in the same universe with the same timeline. I still wish the voyager film had been made, or the DS9 Dominion war film that was considered but never made it. There are so many good star trek storylines/universes that remain canon that could have been picked up for a new blockbuster movie, there was no need to reboot it and throw away everything that has happened so far.

I have similar feelings about the James bond reboot, and the Dr Who remake - quite often you end up with good films/shows, but they have no relation to their roots other than in the name.

I just hope they don't do this to Stargate, it's better to leave these good shows as good memories imo..

All that said I am looking forward to "into the darkness" as it will be another good JJ Abrams action flick, if not a Star Trek film.
