    Re: Pacific Rim

This was a defo Marmite movie. I had people telling me it was the worst film they had ever watched and it bored the hell out of them, and then other who really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it.
People slagging off the plot is harsh, its just that all hero plots are in ways predictable. Before getting on the ride I knew where it would end up, its the journey that you enjoy.

Not really a spoiler but stop reading now.....

To be fair some things made little sense. Two pilots are required and the greater the personal bond the better the mind merge, yet no reason to why them two are compatible other than a list said so.
Mainly an English cast with some questionable accents, but by far the worst offence is the tourchwood doctor. He was a parody of a mad scientist and it just didn't fit right.

Well as long as you realise it's supposed to be ridiculous, then it's fine really

Although I have to admit I did think the American / Japanese culture blend was done very well.

    Re: Pacific Rim

It was enjoyable but not as good as I thought it would be considering its a Guillermo del Toro movie. Apparently he's busy writing a sequel

    Re: Pacific Rim

great movie, really enjoyed watching this in IMAX at Odeon when it first came out, but i agree with most people on this thread to turn your brain off while watching and just simply enjoy this Giant Mech Vs Giant monster film

I would have seen the film more times but I was in hospital from mid July through early August. My God this is the greatest movie of its genre !

    Re: Pacific Rim

Very rarely do I come out of the cinema smiling but Pacific Rim was one of those films. There's no doubt about it it's mindless action with a pretty mediocre and predictable story arc, but the special effects alone make every minute of this film enjoyable.

    Re: Pacific Rim

It seems the sequel is coming in 2017 and a animated series:

    http://www.hitfix.com/news/guillermo...m-the-original
    http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/07/0...ins-of-madness

Del Toro says the second film won't be a sequel but will be exploring other ideas in the Pacific Rim universe.

    Re: Pacific Rim

I saw it, the story is okay, the effects are very good, but I would say that overall it is just a fair movie, perhaps a 6 out of 10. The IMBD scores it a 7.9 which I think is a bit high, but we all have opinions.

    Re: Pacific Rim

    I

    HAVE

    THIS

    FILM

(this is a mirror of my earlier post years ago)

It's great looking on a large HD projector.

But.... it's right next to Real Steel on the shelf... and Real Steel ALWAYS gets picked up first
