Best scene / set piece in a film
Following on from the best film thread, how about your favourite scene from a film? The film doesn't' have to be good.
Just watched the magnificent seven (again) and the superb knife vs gun scene stands out for me.

One that stands out for me as leaving me instantly impressed is the long take in children of men that leads up to the cease fire. 12 minutes single shot or something like that. Through streets, in and out of buildings couldn't take my eyes off it.

Star Wars - A new hope, when the Star Destroyer passes overhead. Truly epic!
As for brilliant acting, the apartment scene in Pulp Fiction.

+1 to the Heat gunfight.
also the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan
that fight scene in Gladiator. You know the one.
And the scene in Terminator 1 where Arnie goes into the police station...
Hmm... so all guns and violence..... interesting. The car chase in Blues Brothers is also good....
Re: Best scene / set piece in a film
The scene in Apocalypto where a jaguar is chasing the main character but then the guy chasing him comes in the way and gets mawled.
Re: Best scene / set piece in a film
Watched Desperado at the weekend and the opening scene with Steve Buscemi telling the story in the bar is superb; great acting, funny and a great way to start a film.
Re: Best scene / set piece in a film
Blade Running "like tears in rain..."
Re: Best scene / set piece in a film
The long end fight scene in "Ong Bak". I believe that it was all done in one take.
The opening scenes to "Die Hard With a Vengeance" and "Casino".
Re: Best scene / set piece in a film
There are the obvious ones, opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, The UP! scene, but one that stands out for me is the Goodfellas scene where Henry takes his wife on a date and they walk through the back of the club, its just wonderful to watch.
