    Sherlock

Enjoyed the first one of season 3, but the last two have been absolute stinkers. Silly overacting, melodrama, showoffyness, pitifully weak crimes that Sherlock doesn't even bother to investigate. Solution has been something you don't need a consulting detective for.

From a series that started off being absolutely the best thing on telly back in series 1, this has turned into Dr Who level BBCized pants.

And I've heard they killed off the brilliant/edgy Ripper Street too. BBC - the graveyard of good telly.

I'm kind of with you on this.

Although I fairly enjoyed the last episode most of the way through as I was expecting more but I was left disappointed, still it's fairly decent entertainment compared to some of the dribble on British TV.

    Re: Sherlock

I watched the last one yesterday. Ending got me very excited, looks like series 4 (whenever that will be) will be what I was hoping series 3 would have been.

S3 was okay, but no real nemesis or detective work, and that big thing that happened in episode 2 was just a filler episode to me, that wasn't explained well enough in episode 3.

Tried avoiding spoilers, so might not make sense

    Re: Sherlock

Season 3 seems to be all about having fun with the characters, now that they're well-established. Not sure about the 'revelation' of S3E3, though... Seems a bit far-fetched.

Then again, I did not realise that Amanda Abbington and Martin Freeman are real-life partners, either!

    Re: Sherlock

Previous Sherlocks have been great. This series? Rubbish. I want my three hours back. Self-indulgent codswallop, IMHO. Will I even bother watching a next series? Well, 50/50 at best.

    Re: Sherlock

I was a bit disappointed with this one too. I spent most of it saying 'but that's just silly' every 5 minutes. Whatsisname cumberbatch just seems to stand there narrowing his eyes and looking thoughtful, it showed such promise. And how can they axe ripper street and still let all this other 'I'm a Celebrity Factor on Ice Come Dine with Me and We'll go Dancing' nonsense stay on??

    It's just like Doctor Who.

Moffat did a great job at the beginning and then it just descended into self-indulgent, self-referencing rubbish.

    Viewing figures.

Too many dumb spoon-fed people tune in to reality TV.....there needs to be a culling of the human population to stop this appalling trend.

    Re: Sherlock

they axed ripper street, yet they're doing another series of that atlantis bollocks?

This series of sherlock wasn't as good as season 1, although that was partly because it simply wasn't as novel. I thought 2 was weak, but 3 was a bit better. Feels like they'd have been more comfortable as 60 rather than 90 minute episodes though.

    Re: Sherlock

I feel this series of Sherlock suffered with not having a strong background storyline, Seasons 1 and 2 were loosely based on the books but these weren't. Who is Sherlock without his arch enemy and I think they realised that hence the return of Doc M at the end of episode 3.
