Are u have the same problem? how to put the blu-ray movies playable on TV?

My parents have a smart TV and they like to view Blu-ray movies on it. They used the blu-ray conversion to make these Blu-rays to be played on TV. But had an issue with getting the 5.1 to come through. Anyone has the same problem? Or any solutions?

Depends on what 'the blu-ray conversion' was. If this is going to be able format shifting, it'll probably be locked pretty quickly.

I presume you have optical out or similar from your TV to your amp? If you're just trying to play a movie file directly from the TV it'll only come out of the speakers which are directly attached to the TV.

I just run the optical out (Toslink cable) from my TV into my Bluray home cinema system when say watching something on Netflix or a movie on Sky.

Then just turn my Bluray system on that has the speakers attached, select the Optical input and away it goes with the surround sound.

You will need to look at the settings on the TV unit and see if there are options for audio passthrough or if it is doing some type of processing to the audio that the soundbar and the TV then don't recognize.

As I know, some Blu-ray converter do not support to output 5.1 audio. Plz check the output options when you do the conversion.

Thanks for your advice, When I do the conversion I didn’t see any option of 5.1 audio. Could you recommend the Blu-ray converter that support output 5.1 audio?

This thread does look like a few spam bots tag-teaming the helpful Hexites

If the question is legit, your TV probably can't decode (or downmix?) DTS audio.

Also stop talking about playing Blu-Rays on the TV because that's not what you're doing. You're ripping and converting discs and playing back the re-encoded files.

Is there any reason you can't just use a Blu-Ray player?

Thread closed. The answer - playing a blu ray disc from a DVD player through an audio system has been given by Ferral.
