A film which, if you're in the right calm relaxed mood is really worth seeing...

... but if you're not in the right mood I imagine it's totally rubbish.

I was in the right mood, had never heard of it and simply tried it because Lovefilm had moved to Amazon prime and i suddenly have unlimited streaming on y PS3.

I had no idea what it was about.. I only chose to see it becasue of one of the stars and because I had no idea what to expect.

I enjoyed it for many reason... it was relaxed... it was a little bit funny but not rip roaring. It was easy to settle into and yet I paused it twice to grab more beer with no effort... I wasnt totally drawn in

And yet... I will whole heartedly rate it as a really good film. It's not astounding but it... it works somehow.

    Oh the film.. sorry.....

Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson in

    The Big Year

It's a film about bird watchers.....

( I know... I DID warn you..... kinda.....)

In England theyre called twitchers.. (and a very long time ago I knew someone who ran a premium rate telephone line for twitchers)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1053810/ IMDB rate it at just over 6 /10
I rated it at 7.5 to 8... but on another day it would have got 3.....

it's gotta catch you juuust on the right evening.. and then it's sooo enjoyable.

How essential was the beer for this 'right mood'?

I see there's even an extended cut of the film. More bird on bird action...?

I can just imagine some of those conversations...

"Hey there, you're through to Terry at Twitchers Together, whats got you twitching today?
Hi Terry, Tarquin here, well I've just spotted a rather unusual specimen with fantastic plumage, its got me twitching all over!
Calm down there Tarquin, and less of the heavy breathing ok, its not that kind of premium rate line, ok. So tell me about this bird.
    well, she's about 5'4

Seen it, too. Can't remember where - might have been on a flight.
Enjoyed it. Interesting peek into that world. I grew up with some twitchers, but no-one on that scale of dedication.

One can never stop saying Thank You

how's about The Intouchables (2011). I was keeping the premium ticket for whatever movies, and picked it randomly. and enjoyed it so much that bought the Blu-ray to watch again at home.
