Not sure if you guys are aware but Gillian Anderson was on the Nerdist podcast recently. Chris tried to pitch an idea of a 2015 X-Files reboot. She was up for it. I loved the show way back when, so maybe it'll happen.

but that doesn't mean X Files should come back... the truth WAS out there.. but it's time has passed.. it got jumbled.

I feel X-Files has had its time and it was right for the time, too many things have been bought back and ruined.

They were good in their day but please leave them there.

Hmmmmmmm.... It could be done, it could be done very well in fact with the right folk on board. There were a few episodes of Fringe that I recall hitting a very similar vibe but based around more up to date theories.

Can Chris Carter get it right though? Probably not I'm sad to say. I'm a big fan and I'd seriously love to have Mulder and Scully back, if only because aside from the nostalgia it would mean there were four t.v shows worth watching instead of three. However Mr Carter has had two feature films with reasonable budgets and almost total control to reinvigorate the franchise and did nothing much to speak of with them.

Knox has a point.. I went to see an X Files film.. it was utter pants.

In fact I totalyl forgot about it until he mentioned it.. so that is BAD !

I recall a realyl bad mutant dog .... near the end in it.. looked like Spider Dog on Utube.. but less real.

I've been waiting for the existing series to come out on bluray - there has been rumours of it getting remastered for years. I've got the DVDs but even they don't seem to be "DVD Quality", over compressed like they were trying to squeeze too many episodes on to a disc.

I'd happily watch it all again in HD. Probably cheaper to do and wouldn't ruin the franchise.


I do remember one of the films being garbage but the other one was not too bad. Not seen either for a long time.

I would be surprised if they can remaster it. If it was shot on NTSC cameras then there isn't a huge amount they can do with the footage.

Some shows, like Friends, where actually shot on 35mm which is why they can bring out HD versions now.

You guys really need to do some research The whole series has been remastered in HD. Yes it was shot on 35mm but effects were done after. Whether it'll get a BR release is another matter.

Quick Google and all I could see was talk of some German/Russian 1080i TV recordings of Season 1 & 2 with the English DVD audio muxed over them. Thread on reddit from 3 months ago.

It'd probably be more investment than the studio would see back in sales to convert and re-do the CGI for everything in nice 1080p bluray.

I used to love it but stopped watching when the lead characters changed. I just seemed to lose its way. The best episodes were the standalone ones, not the alien conspiracy mythos.
