Here's a question - What movies/TV programs would you love to see made that (that currently don't seem likely to be made)?
Movies:
Master & Commander sequel(s) - or mini series. Took me two sittings to appreciate the film so I'd love to see another one. Been years though and it doesn't seem likely.
Quigley Down Under sequel. Not sure how many of you saw this one or heard of it but it was an early 90's Tom Selleck western, set in Australia, with a small cult following. Fun film. Probably a product of the era and thus unrepeatable. Still, the character(s) are solid enough that it would be great to see the Quigley name revived.
TV:
Count of Monte Cristo mini series - the book is long and takes a little getting used to if you've not read much from Dumas or that period but once you're in it's incredible. Great book. Not only did the movie not really do it justice (as movies rarely can) but the director completely changed the ending. Drove me bonkers. Anyway, with all the intricacies and character development The Count of Monte Cristo would be far better to suited to a mini-series format, would love too see it done.
The Saga of Erik the Viking - mini-series please! Loved the Terry Jones book during my last year in primary school. Feels like a classic sort of greek myth/tale but set in the viking world. Would love to see that turned into a mini-series. A movie could work but when I really enjoy a book it's rare that a movie can do it justice.
Anime fans - I'll just throw out that I'm well and truly on the "Animate the Jinchu Arc!" bandwagon. Rurouni Kenshin is probably my favourite anime of all time and also just a great story. Would love to see them finish of the anime with a proper third season.
Almost Mentioned But Might Be Being Made:
Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. This one is sort of in the works. Pirates 5 is, according to Orlando Bloom, going to be a "soft reboot". I won't hold my breath on that, especially since Keira Knightley has excluded herself from future films. However, if they do manage it then.... - The first one was a brilliant movie but after that they went downhill (or should that be sunk?). Felt to me like the success of the first one left the writers/director with a sense of entitlement to indulge whatever bizarre whims or ideas they had, instead of being more critical and ensuring a finer, better product, at least in terms of story. Feels like they, quite literally, lost the plot.
